I agree, and am very saddened to see all the bickering "mine is bigger than yours", and such.
If there is to be an unification, all sides would have to be prepared to make a compromise.
There will have to be an open debate between the main FM makers - behind closed doors preferably, away from the forum trolls - where each FM will have to be analyzed, compared to all collected data and if needed adjusted.
There has to be a single standard set of FM's for online play. Otherwise this will be no unification.
