gents, it's a spelling and frankly english is bloody ambiguous at times. Since you're all arguing over it anyway, Corea was the original spelling at the start of the 20th century and most europeans use the 'corea' spelling anyway. According to the brief research I did to see how it should be spelt if you're english, the japanese lobbied to change the name corea to 'korea' in the american press some time after they annexed it, so that it would follow its imperial masters alphabetically. Perhaps it's just a rumour, perhaps not. Either way, both spellings seem to have merit although for me, corea seems the more correct and european way of spelling it...
