Great thread. To add to the debate, surely landing a damaged a/c first is a bad idea - what if he then makes the runway"BLACK" (i.e. unfit for the remaining a/c to land?). At sea it's the damaged a/c that are last to land.

Well, they were generally allowed to land first, but on an emergency, generally dirt strip off to the side of the main runway. That said, It would be great to be able to see flare tubes being actually used, as almost all aircraft, including fighters, had them. There were even instances of the AVG dropping pipe bombs out of the flare tubes of their Hawk 81's. Even without that though, it would be a great addition for multiplayer, for everything stated, as well as target marking and a few other things.
