Carrier Takeoff Mod 5.3.3 (updated 7/23/2009)

First off, when you say you "turn it off" I assume you mean you either delete the Carrier Takeoff folder completely from your MODS folder, or you put a minus sign (-) in front of the folder name.

Make sure you've turned off ALL versions of both the Carrier Takeoff mod and the old separate Catapult mod if you have any.

The next thing to check would be if you have any versions of these mods: Moving Dogfight Server, CERT AI mod, or AI NavLights. If you do, try turning those off one at a time and see if it might fix your problem.

What point does it freeze at? During game loadup?

I just tried turning the mod off and I flew on a dog fight server and tested a few coops. It seems to work fine for me at this point. I did not try all my coop missions with different AC though.

Fireball, it has been a pleasure to work with you on the testing of the mod. Thanks for all your hard work.

The problem was caused by Zuti's Airfield Friction mod for the 1.34 Slovenia map. It seems that I can spawn on the carriers now without Carrier Takeoff Mod 5.3.3. It seems that ZUTI will need to find another method of using airfields if he wants to keep his map working on my HDD.

Which Friction mod is that? 0.2 or 0.3?

It is possible to change the Park positions on carriers? :???:
So that landed aircraft stay at deck on Park position in the bug of the carrier.

That would be very interesting for landings.

Have installed the 5_3_3 car T/O mod; disabling all previous mods. Do not have any AI mod installed. Using the "Illustrious," the "Beta 3" version of the Swordfish Mk. I spawn OK, with wings folded, but with any ordnance loadout other than "default" or "empty," instead of taxiing forward, the plane noses over on throttle-up. AI planes seem to have no problem taxiing and launching from the cat with any ordnance loadout, but it doesn't seem to work for player-manned planes. Anyone else have this problem?

Wonderful Mod!

I have managed a start on a carrier with a F-84 Thunderjet, but not with a F9F-2 Panther :-? :-? :???: :-? :-?

This may have been brought up already, but in case it hasn't here goes.

If I choose to slow the time down to 1/2 or 1/4 speed the AI aircraft that is at the catapult starts rolling backwards on the flight deck (only checked Essex Class). All animation for that plane stops, the unfolding of the wings. If I go back to normal speed the planes snaps back to the catapult and finishes its routine of folding the wings from where it stopped then launches.

Thanks for this super mod.
I also wanted to thank you for a very small thing which to me is a big thing - thank you for keeping the date of your postings and mods big and bold - this makes it so much easier to keep track of which version of which mod I have added when, and when I got it in relation to other mods - helps a lot in resolving conflicts - which I am a magnet for.
Your technical solutions have also encouraged me to enquire whether you might be interested in applying your skills to a CamShip for Atlantic Convoys.

As for the CAM ship, that's probably not something I'll be taking on. That would involve a lot more work than getting catapults working on existing carriers (which was plenty of work in itself! ).

So I think I'll leave that to someone younger, brighter, and with more energy than me! Smile
