avenger had object positional/COG issues...that seem most extreme for take off

repostioned to give less funky characteristics, vers2 is distinctly better

try vers 1, then 2, the diff is clear

the TU-2S has treacherous ground handling, many will find this great bird impossible to take off...hopefully it wont be a very long time before its determined if the issue is at hand with it is the same as the avenger was, and can be fixed also

Actually, I have found a way to takeoff in this plane. (TU-2S)

1. Start engines, lower flaps
2. Apply Breaks
3. Both engines to max power (Keep Brakes On!!!)
4. Unselect engine 1 and drop engine 2 to 40% throttle
5. Release Brakes and use rudder to keep plane strait
6. When you have enough momentum to keep you going forward (dust under wheels) Put engine 2 to max power

7. Pull back at about 160-180Km/h

Try it, hope it helps.

yup it's much better now... still handful of work to keep it straight on low speed ( which i like Big Grin ) but i'm afraid that new pilots will find it very difficult to handle

I can not express how grateful i am for having this bird guys ... thanks!

Can we do the same thing to get all the other TBF versions flyable? There are 4 I think.

TBF-1
TBF-1C
TBM
AvengerMkIII

Would be nice to have them all. Wouldn't it just be a simple copy paste into the other TBF plane files?

IMHO ai planes have simplified fm so i believe that tuning fm is the difficult part

I think you missunderstood me fly_zo, I simply meant adding the same cockpits at same positions and changing Center of Mass to the same point on all of the Avenger variants. Basically the same thing as the B-25 pack. Give them all the same cockpitts at same locations and same COM.

I did not mean to tinker with the FM's ... unless it is necessary.

100% agree m8 , i just thought that there is much more work involved

...no bad intention m8

lol...i do kinda the oopsite for Tu-2S

boot full of right rudder to begin

start both engines

run #2 up to 50%, them immediately run #1 up to MAX, and rudder steer with brakes, looking to enable "tailwheel lock" at same time

allow speed to build with 100%/50% combo...remember, do not use flaps yet, and keep the stick pulled back to keep that tailwheel on the ground for as long as possible!

applying max power to #1 engine is a judgement call, but u will find ur own sweet spot

i have noticed the once u are up to 180 kph, that weird torque is no problem anymore

use landing flaps once u are at speed, and take off should go OK

in any event, COG fix will be attempted on TU2S to help its ground handlingBig Grin

bear in mind , this is

not messing with FM, simple or not....its something that seems to have been left wonky by 1C, as there was no seeable need for fixing it, as it normaly is AI controlled

there will be an "avenger pack" in the same vein as the new "B25 pack"...and so on, for all other types

Woops! I probably got the engine #'s switched. Sorry

But yeah, basically the same thing

not really..idea is half power on right engine for motivation, higher power on left engine to counter the strong left swing

u had it, only you went MAX power THEN reduced right(#2) engine...still werks, obviously, but produces more swing to have to deal with then the other way Smile

hopefully we can and will get it fixxor'd sooner than later, and ease take offs

ironically, once in the air, and on landing, the Tu2 is heavy, but pleasant

Just a slight "nudge", if not a bump, for Herr Scharnhorst. I couldn't agree more. Is there any more to it than a "cpopy and paste"? I'd do it myself, but I'm sure I'd screw it up somewhere along the way.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved with this project of modding the game we all love so much. 1:C Madox left this sim behind a long time ago, and I'm glad to see something being done about a few of the glaring absences left behind. The sounds are absolutely incredible, and the ability to fly the Turkey is particularly gratifying to us in VT-51! Thank you all so very much.

I actually have the moding tools. I have tinkered around with them a little bit, but it is not as simple as one would think. Maybe I am incredibally dense, but I have not figured anything out yet. I am content to wait. By the time I figure it out, these guys will have made every AI plane flyable

Naw, but seriously. I am sure that in one night, they could make an "Avenger Package" that makes all of them flyable. They already have one, so all they would have to do is give them all the same center of gravity, same cockpits at the same locations. I could be wrong, but it does not sound to tedious. Big Grin

I am hopeful. Its a wonderful thing they are doing, regardless of what is being posted elsewhere. This has re-invigorated many of our squad members who were slipping by the wayside thinking this sim was getting a bit long in the tooth. I am also hopeful that they will re-do the TBM's cockpit with the F4F, or F6F as well. Not that I am complaining mind you. I would be happy as a clam with it as it is, but I do agree that the other Grumman cockpits are better suited for the job.
