Help! - Can't get mods to work
#1

Cry I've downloaded both V9 and V9.1 of the Sound Mod. I'm using WINRAR; I've followed the instructions in the readme file and copied them where I'm told to, but when I try to run the game, it crashes at the splash screen. The splash screen is in Russian, but I know from other posts that's ok.

I can restore the game by going to my backup copies of il2.exe and files.sfs, so I can still play the old version of the game.

What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be appreciated. I've been waiting for mods like this for a long time, and I really appreciate what's been done. I hope the publishers know this just improves the game's longevity.

ok,
copy and paste the wrapper.dll sfs files.sfs, files folder, il2.exe and everything else, paste them in, then when you download a mod, read the install/readme's.
make you u edit the files.txt with every mod download, and ensure that the files are in the right areas. very strait forward, if you still dont get it, post back here and i will step by step guide you.

Have you set your Sound sample rate to 44100 in IL2 setup.exe ?

Yes, my sound is set to 44100. I also followed Lt.Wolf's instructions above. Still no joy.

What does "setruntime = 2" mean? From the readme file, I know this will cause the game to crash, but I'm not sure what this refers to.

Thanks for the replies.

Sorry, I meant "checkruntime=2", not "setruntime". I can't find this setting in any of the .ini files.

Same problem here. And the game doesn't work after I paste the original files back either. One complete reinstall. Don't feel like carrying out any other. Any help?

if I were you I'd install the mod switcher...then you can go back to the original game without having to mess with uninstalling...just have the shortcuts on the desktop to change from mod ON to mod OFF....then when the original is running OK...try and find the problem

this sound mod is not a self installing thing...you need to unzip into a folder and then copy each folder or file where its supposed to go....and the things which get overwritten need to be backed-up first

It works! I don't know why but it does (after three entire reinstallation of the whole game). Never have figured out where I made a mistake.

I've got the same problem.
My version was originaly downloaded from Ubisoft store and I don't have a CD. Does that have anything to do with it?
