More problems (loadouts, rockets)
#1

Hello,

Here is a list of work that I am considering doing. I have plenty of experience using "external programming capabilities" but I am still adapting to Java (which is new to me). So the result is that things don't "jump out at me" quite yet.

I was wondering if someone could help identify if/where the class differs for the R4M from other rocket types in order to produce dispersion. The 60lb rocket had about 8 mils dispersion and the RS series was closer to 16 mils. I intend to implement this.

Work to be done on loadouts:
- See if weapons types can be swapped on the same hardpoints
- See if loadouts can be transfered between variants (Mig-3UD -> Mig-3 AM38)
- See if hardpoints can be deleted and figure out how weapons are assigned to hardpoints in mixed loadouts (AR-234 test version - not for release)
- See if new hardpoints can be added using the *.class and *.him files

Other interesting projects:
- Create a new weapon based on an existing version (TinyTim -> BETAB-750DS)
note: This may be possible due to the nature of this particular weapon. Generally speaking what I have seen doesn't bode well for modifying weapons (which is generally a good thing).
- Adding a time delay for the SC-250 in order to make it into an Aerial Bomb
- Swapping SD2 and SD4 between the AB series

I repeat, impossible change weapons and loadouts for planes..

Do you know why? Some loadout parameters seem to exist in the *.class files as does impulse data for the rocket engines. What about the R4M dispersion?

Yes change paremters of weapon is possible, but why? I know some weapons have bugs, but i don't want make correction, becouse it will be as changing FM.

I see your point. Thanks for the replies.

The only changes that I would make:
- Give dispersion to all rockets (very realistic, effectively lowers performance - so not a cheat)
- Possibly give the BK3.7 on the BF-110 AP ammunition (as was the case in the original Il2FB)
- Possibly attempt to model the BETAB-750DS if it could be somehow swapped onto the Il-4 (It is a Soviet weapon about 25% heavier than the TinyTim - test examples of which were used against bunkers in the Gulf of Finland by specially retrofitted Il-4s)

If we found a work around to modify loadouts there would be quite a few more:
- Mig-3 AM-38 should have the same armament options as a standard Mig-3
- Ar-234 should have single SC-250 or SC-500 as an option
- Pe-2 should have rockets rails
- etc.

Wouldn't you agree that it is worth making an effort to see if we can do this?

I'd dearly love to delete the heavy wing loads on SBDs, and I'd actually like to delete the bomb load entirely from the A6M2-21 since operationally, they almost never carried bombs. Online you have a situation where the standard VB for the IJN is a heavy Zero, which bugs me.

Too bad we can't clone planes. I'd like to have an F6F-3 with no bombs, too, and a few other allied planes as well, so that a mission builder could force fighetrs to not be fighter bombers.

Uh tater, you are aware that you can force loadouts with the "no user loadout" option when creating a mission?

The only thing I would like to see is a Mossie with 60lb RP's, but I know that wont happen soon.

No user loadout works on DF maps?

Oh...no it doesnt. Coop/Single player only.

hope it is possible but ive not so far had much luck - although i havnt yet really concentrated my efforts that direction yet :?

This is good news.

First priority will be to try and add rocket dispersion. If anyone has figures for the 30lb rocket and the American rockets (various 4.5", 5", HVAR, 11.5") I would love to have them.

If anyone has a lot of experience I would appreciate a quick look at the *.class files. I will try to post some snippets tomorrow.

I will also poke around the loadouts and see if I can find a work around (just in case).

Thank you,

Any possibility of changing the weapon parameters (strength of destructive effects) of the Russian and German aerial torpedos. They seeem to be way underpowered compared Brit US and Japanese equivalents.

This thread made me to remember:
Its possible to change the tracers, size and dispersion, for any type of aircraft?

I remember the debate about the realistic B-17 II simulator tracers (made by the shake of the camera, but they were cool), the P-51 tracers dispersion, or the I-15 lasers.
Maybe now we could change that!

Tnx

Other than swapping a few cockpits I haven't found changes to the class files that actually have an effect. I am clearly looking in the wrong areas. Does anyone have recommendations on how to go about adding dispersion?

What is "maxDeltaAngle"? Is this a variable determining dispersion?

I am also curious as to how editable 4.05 was compared to 4.08 and if anyone knows were the important data for loadouts etc. is actually stored.

S!
