How do I set up a base pack to allow editing in 4.05?

koi - dude there is not any old B17 mods - there is ONLY the latest mods with optional Mod-pack - look again!

I am only okay with this if there is a way to force people to own both Il2FB/AEP/PF and Il2 1946. If we are moving Oleg's (and Luthier's) content back in such a way that does not require people to purchase 4.08 then we are engaging in Piracy and this community will have crossed the line.

Oleg Maddox may not have modeled every plane exactly to our (or your) liking, but he still is the greatest in terms of design and support, exceeding what should theoretically be possible for a company to do.

... well now... if you want to talk about right and wrong... i hope you know that the .exe you are useing is a no-cd, in a sence that is bad.. and hence is Piracy. :!: whos side are you really on ??

Oleg has never stated that he wanted copy protection. It was always a decision of the distributer. I own two copies of Il2:1946. I don't see the ethical problem.
If Oleg said, "don't use the no-cd for personal use", I wouldn't use it out of loyalty to the man (who I have talked to on a dozen or so occasions). If my use of the no-cd aided piracy then I wouldn't use it out of loyalty for the product. I don't like is the tone I occasionally see that is self-righteous and hostile attitude toward Maddox that I sometimes see here.
My personal opinion is that we should not be afraid to modify the FM and DM in a responsible way. I am clearly not one for half measures. But we are talking about something here that is much more serious than that. Even reverse engineering the product (which gives MS a chance to try and run Oleg out of business and then ruin their own products) is not as serious as aiding actual piracy of this sim.
Anyway, that is how I see things and I am willing to stand by them.

Hell, I went back to window XP after using Vista the resource hog. Now my Microsoft FF pro 1 stick works once again! 8) Go for it I say if it improves the game for us all.
