Map Modifying Discussion - History (Read Only)

@FALCO:

you did everything like you should ... please check lines in your new load.ini and compare them to original and recheck all folder/file names and paths ... beyond that i really don't know

[MAP]
ColorMap = map_c.tga
HeightMap = map_h.tga
SmallMap = map_M.tga
TypeMap = map_T.tga
FarMap = map_F.tga
ReflMap = map_R.tga

[LIGHT]
LandLight = LandLight.mat
CloudShadows = CloudShadows.mat

[MAP2D]
ed_m03.tga
ed_m02.tga
ed_m01.tga

good luck

I was thinking about creating new land textures, here's a demo that it can be done, of course the texture I show has no value whatsoever. I took one of the few textures which can be opened, namely fields_airbase_dust.tga and modified it in gimp in 3 seconds. Created inside "maps" folder the folder "_Tex/Land/summer/" and placed the modified texture inside. Added "maps/_Tex/land/summer/fields_airbase_dust.tga" to filelist.txt. Changed the rivershore of Crimea load.ini to this texture. Below you see in the pic the new texture. However I'm puzzled because the texture looks pretty different in game and outside game (gimp or irfanview). The texture seen with irfanview is a pretty dark green. Anyway, maybe we can figure these things better and come with some new textures!

... nice man Big Grin .... for different appearing of textures in map see ShadeNoise = land/Noise.tga under [APPENDIX] that may be the reason...

Thank you fly-zo for your prompt help but unfortunately still no joy for me Sad I've checked and all lines of files are written into the load.ini, I've tried with another map (berlin_autumn) but still same problem: FMB ask for [MAP 2D] .TGA file that he can't found. Please where I can found Map 2D and the appropriate map.Tga ? I think the problem is that I need also to add .TGA of the maps somewhere in a folder too (?) :roll:

unbelievable but all that seams to me that you have wrong folder names for maps cos game all files that isn't specify in the filelist loads from the sfs files . You'll need to have exactly the same configuration of folders and files or game can't find rest of the files in the sfs files.

anyway get yourself sfs extractor ( download section of forum) and extract all sfs files from game root dir. into one folder. Than navigate to maps folder and in there should be all maps with all files that game uses ( maps from 4.07 up will not be present cos they are encrypted ). Your organization of files and folders in files must be exactly like those in extracted folder.

good luck

Thanks for the hint Zo, I'll see about it...

Sorry, very hard to deep for me with the sfs extractor, and furthermore all standard map and your new "Norway_winter map" and normandy (congrats!) loads correctly. thank you if you can explain me now what I have to do correctly to add a new mod-map starting from copy/paste of their .txt written in this forum by you or vp, or other modders that are posting those new maps .txt and as well how to use them as sobstitute of the default ones (I tried vp-media suggestion to delete the only the suffix but Im' doing something wrong here too.. need more clarification if possible.Sorry my idiocy Sad

:roll: :roll:

Falco, as you described your doing, I can't find either any mistake. Maybe don't save the text first as "load.txt", save directly as "load.ini", but I don't think this is the problem.

thank you however I'll try to work better.. in the meantime I solved how to change default maps .. a little step forw Smile S!

Just a little help with your english..... not intended to complain...I have no russian

"I do it!".....should be........ "I've Done it!"

"I'm genius, is'n it?"...... should be........ "I'm a genius, aren't I?"

isn't it= is not it?= is it not?
aren't I= are not I= am I not?

and.....YES you are. Smile

now maybe we can get some better colours for those strips...

Does this mean you have isolated the airstrips??

can you now paste these strips anywhere on a map?

can you isolate the white map icon with the crossed runways...to which the planes are bound for landing and take-off........it would be nice to construct new airstrips anywhere on a map

Falco, it may be a dump assumption but have you put an ".ini" into the name of the ini files?
I mean does your Windows show you the file with a name like "load.ini"?
Because that way I don't think the engine will recognize the file.

Hi deSAD, this is great discovery :!:
Big Grin How are you doing it?

Very good, this was the one thing I couldnt figure out Smile
Do global RGB color codes work or is this airfield/map specific parameter?
