Many subcontractors as....DBenz made this name-error,then the guys from Mtt itself that can't draw performance curves without making the *same* mistake,and then the guys from www.virtualpilots.fi (maybe the most complete site about 109) who also did the *same* error!..+ myself.

Things would be much simpler if we were all to adopt the industry standard. Wait a minute, isnt that the definition of a standard? :lol:



Its stamped by the factory that made it, riveted to the aircraft by the workers at that same factory. So what is stamped on it become part of the aircraft, and thus it is its name.

Kind of like when your mom wrote your name in your underwear.

But Skunkmeister does have a point - current industry standards ARE that the aircraft is called what is on the plate... ie: Piper Cherokee 181 = PA-28-181, Alpha Aviation 160A = R2160A

I have a suggestion for this MOD, which has nothing to do with the Bf/Me debate above... It is just a practical one: in some cases the full name/designation of the plane is so long that it does not appear in the GUI boxes, for instance in the DGen campaign plane selection drop-down menu.

So my suggestion is to use shorter names, which can fit the somewhat tight formats of the game menus:

"Grumman..." instead of "Grumman Iron Works..."

"Spitfire Mk VIII" instead of "Supermarine Spitfire Mk VIII".

It would be nice to be able to see the full name, with the manufacturer, but somehow, it does not work for long names. Another option is to add the manufacturer's name after the plane model, but again we would not be able to see it in several instances.

Of course, this is just a suggestion, taking into account the practical limitation I mentioned above.

Ouuhh, just to add some fuel to the flames....

I would apprechiate, if all the Messerschmidt planes would be listed up togehter, which would make scrolling and choosing the plane easier.

Hum, maybe, dear Skunkmeister, you did ignore the fact, that the plate you have shown us, is not by Messerschmitt A.G.?

It's an Erla plate. Manufacturer of this particular plane was Erla Maschinenwerk G.m.b.H., which has to be regarded as a subcontractor of Messerschmitt A.G. hock: Maybe they had just produced thousands of these plate time before the Bf 109 was referred to as Me 109 and they were just depleting them because the raw-material for making correct :twisted: new ones was more urgently needed for some other purpose of wartime production?

O.K. Hun in the Sun provides original Messerschmitt documents to back up his opinion. You show this plate of a subcontractor, who were often making mistakes... :roll: Who was the one to state this?
