Yeh, that would be ultra-cool if it could be done...?

I have followed the directions exactly, but cannot get it to work after many hours and attempts....even when I use the TGA files posted by others. Even the Sample splash screen doesn't show up when I load IL2.

Tried a 1024x768 .tga and it wouldn't work.

Copying that and pasting it over the sample tga and then saving it did however.

Cool 8)

What do you mean, pasting it over???

make sure you have folders like below....

\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\files\gui

like this....

& this in 'filelist.txt'
gui/background.tga
gui/background0_ru.mat

make sure your TGA is saved in 24bit too

Big Grin Thanks a millon Mr Jolly

It worked and I think I know where the confusion is. The two files {background0_ru.mat and background.tga} I kept puting into Files\gui\game folder where buttons is located instead of coarse Files\gui folder. I knew I was doing a rather simple mistake, but for me like some, get rather excited with all the new developments to the sim, and quit easily over look things.

THANK BUD! CHEERS.

I still can't get it to work. The files are in the right folder and the text lines have been added to the filelist.

Any ideas?

I was having that problem too. Are you using GIMP? I will give you the steps I used:

1. make sure the picture is 1024x768.
2. convert the picture from .jpg to .bmp , the working picture should be windows bitmap.
3. modify picture as you will.
4. then convert picture from .bmp to .tga, DO NOT use compression...very important when using GIMP, the picture then should be 2.25mb size (also very important).
5.copy picture into the right folder...and then it works.

Things to remember, the picture has to be 1024x768 and have a size of 2.25mb, if not, it will not work. I hope this helps.
