When one shoots at a vehicle, be land vehicle or ship at sea....

do we get explosions and debris specific for that which we are shooting at?


i seem to see sprites as the debris? can we take one or two of those sprites and make it in to a troop
or crew person being blown up in to the air?

so if we are strafing a ships gun emplacements we could ramdomly see gun crews flying and maybe falling in to the water?

or shoot at land vehicles and pass so close we could catch a glimpse of a ground troop being blown up
in to the air? maybe we can take those little guys that we see runing away from vehicle columns
and make them fly? those are animated already. but if its not posible with the little animations,

debris sprites rotate in mid air, change one of those rotating sprites in to a little guy

When I will shoot the russian WC, I would like to see a man without clothes running with a toilet tissue in hand !!!! ... rubbish ! :roll: :roll: :roll:

ok, just a crazy idea...... but how about this?



how hard would it be to add those runing little guys from other vehicles besides the troop truck object?

Those little random bits of debris, look pretty generic....

You get them when things blow up, or when you strafe something (which doesnt blow up - like a ship) So if you changed one of them - would you not change it for all? So if you were strafing a ship, in a F4F for example (with only machine guns) You would see people flying in the air - which doesnt seem quite right now does it.....?

Same thing applies to aircraft.

When you give a bomber a good burst of MG fire you get quite a lot of debris fly from it.

There is one .TGA for debri of land/sea objects. Thats it. There is absolutely no provision to add animated figures and complex meshes in place of this little 256x256 tga. It is utterly impossible. It can not be done. The game is not designed that way. Sorry.

Next we will se a mod with "ammunition boxes" or even "health boxes" flying as debries...

I tried to do something similar some long time ago, right when I started. We don't have infantry at the moment, and any ground battle looks pretty stupid because of that.
So I did the following, I made one truck invisible,
then when you have a bunch of these invisible trucks running along with tanks in a tank battle, whenever something shoots at the invisible trucks, the visible soldiers jump from the invisible tracks and spread around. So in a tank batttle you can have infantry... I stoped because: I was not able to increase the invulnerability of the invisible trucks. They were destroyed too fast.
Think about another application, landings, d-day, and especially in the Pacific, with this sort of mod you'll be able to see something running accross those damned beaches. Infantry...

i thought just for immersion, just like the troops runing out of transport when strafing them(outstanding animation)

im sure who ever modded that, for the sake of realism, would try to make it more real than a video game.



i wonder if those little guys that come runing from the transports object can be moded to make them look like
mechanic crew working on aircraft on a base

Very neat. It might be possible to make the invisible trucks invincible. We could remove the hit box so they would be invulnerable to everything except high explosive. We might be able to change their classification in the *.class files etc.

Nothing is certain...

with those animations the sim has



they actually acomplished this in lockon. they actually took an object (a ship at sea) and make it look like a flock of birds.

and changed vehicles in to animated soldiers around the bas. pretty impresive what the moders come out with

If it's possible toincrease the vulnerability, I'd be very happy...
But we can dream further, maybe some hacker ace will be able to give us a soldier as "vehicle".
Waypoints and all...soldiers are there...imagine a bunch of recruits running when you take off hehe. Or a batallion or regiment marching along the road packed with tanks towards Stalingrad, you flying low in your il2 Big Grin
