I can make transparent object, I'm not exactly sure how some of the things works but I believe that we have made some progress here and that cloning and retexturing will be useful addition in map makers bag of trick.

Yeah, a huge leap!

The reason I asked about transparent is this. You make a side view of a forest texture. Ideally the roof looks like the forest from above (perhaps transparent as well, like the layer forest). Since the spaces in between the trees are clear, you will see the texture on the other side of the building as well. The differenc in placement between the two sides will have the tree trunks read in parallex, so it will look very 3d. When you move, the tree trunks will shift relative to one another.

Objects (for my future reference):

204 is slightly lower than the layer forest.

212 is about right. Huge.

286 is shorter, but HUGE so fewer needed.

312 is the right height.

612 is shorter, but it's just a rectangular box, fewer polys. Huge.

Does this mean we can clone things other than ground objects?

How about a cloned ship, repainted?

Or cloning to make frankenplanes so they don't replace an extant plane...

Adding new planes will be hard for the rest chances are good, I'll try to clone ships first.
Keep in mind that skinning these clones will be hard as hell because we don't have voids for them.

Woot!

I was thinking just gray, that dazzle paint rocks.

Are ships built in sections, could a bigger ship be bashed by adding a middle section, etc?
