You're very welcome vpmedia, and thanks to you too and anyone else contributing here.

I was just flying a small mission I put together. I was in Avala's new Hurricane cockpit, looking through Sojka's reticle, out over your map and clouds, at the new smoke and fires I just installed from fabianfred's consolidated effects, and oh yes, let's not forget listening to a very convincing Merlin engine too.

I'm thinking WOW! this is very, very nice. I'm thinking to myself I wish everyone who loves this sim could see and hear this too. And I'm wondering if Oleg ever looks at this stuff?

I don't care what anyone else thinks or says, I like this community and I like what's going on here. I'm glad to be a part of it and I can't wait to see what comes next.

I had the same experience today...I might add that it was on fly_zo's modified Normandy/BoB map Big Grin ...but other details are the same + I feel pretty much the same way like you. I always thought that IL-2 is a bit unfinished until the mods came out.

Unfinished is a great way to look at it. I understand the original design team was very small with limited resources. Modding has allowed talent from all over the world to pick up the ball and run with it.

Great work ! i enjoy it making realistic guncams

but i have a problem when i install reticles for P-51 and reticles for USN planes, everything works fine except the riticle for the P-51D(K14) the acemaker is not modded, it's still the same than before and it's the only one to have that prob.

thx for ur lights

butch, Did you get this sorted out? No one else has reported any problems so there must be something within your system messing it up. The folder name should be P-51D-20(K14) and should have 2 MAT files and 4 TGA files in it.

Hi, thanks for new reticles, I like them a lot.
Just my notes about installation (I had some troubles with late Jugs):

P-47D "Bubletop" reticles:
1. Rename the P-47D-27 to P-47D-25
Otherwise reticles doesn't work for Bubbletops. This will change reticle for both of them
2. to change reticles if you use K-14 Acemaker Mod for "P-47D Late", just copy files from \3do\Cockpit\P-47D-25\ from this mod to \3do\Cockpit\P-47D-25\ in K-14 Acemaker mod.

P-51D K-14 Acemaker for P-47D/YP-80:
1. if you would like to have modified K-14 reticle in K-14Mod for P-47D, copy files from P-51D-20(K14) folder to same folder as in step 2. in previous part
2. To modify YP80 reticles, make copy of P-51D-20(K14) folder and rename it to YP-80

Thanks for the update deRuyter. I'll made the 27 to 25 name change.

The only jug I fly is the P-47D Late with the Acemaker mod because the old P-47 gunsight is so damn ugly. I'd love to see someone redo the sight with rounded glass.

It's getting time to move this out of WIP. I wanted to include the CorsairMk series but after looking through every 3do SFS file I still can't find the cockpits. If anyone finds them or knows how they are listed please let me know.

Catahoulak9, you don't need to add Corsairs MkI-IV. Grab MkII and try - you will see that you have same shining reticle as in F4U-1. It seems that it is same as for P-47D25/27 - one group for several planes.
A have installed both your sights (N9 and Mk8) and I have these reticles even in planes like Hawk-75, P-40 Field Mod and so on, even there is no special folder for them in your pack (Just wonder, whether there is same reticle for MS-406 which is using cockpit of Tomahawk).

So probably you can test, which plane is used for which group. Something like F4U-1A for all Corsairs and P-40B for all P-40 series.

Bad part is that in Corsair Mk.I the reticle doesn't work very well. It looks like only 1 .tga file is shown and reticle is slightly dull (slightly worse than original, but not criticaly). There is maybe similar problem which was in pack of british reticles with Beaufighter's one. Guys later used just 1 .tga for it and sight isn't coloured any more but reticle itself is also not as shiny as for Spits/Hurri's.

Well it makes sense that they would simply share common files, but I don't know where or how this takes place.

I don't think they resolved the Beaufighter problem of just using the one tga file so you don't get the bright effect. I didn't realize the Corsair Mks were doing the same thing. No wonder I couldn't find the cockpit files. Too bad, I like the bird cage canopy but I'm really love flying with the bright reticles. I'm sure we will eventually work it out.

Honestly, I have very little to no knowledge of modding Sturmovik and a very limitted knowledge about graphic issues. I just tryed to solve some problems I had with this "beta" (which is anyway very good).

RAF reticles:
Unless I have wrong versions, Beaufighter is not solved to have bright reticle. In mod, I have (and it should be latest version) in Beau folder is only one .tga file plus .mat file. In folders for Spits, Hurri's and so on are two .tga files. For .tga file for Beau, there are some different values in .mat file compared to others.
If you copy there files for Hurri, you will get again reticle with that coloured glass effect.

Anyway, reticle of Corsair Mk.I is influenced - it changes the default reticle, but not in the desired way. Maybe you can play wit those values in .mat file, or ask somebody who did reticles for RAF planes. Maybe they know something more.

nope I still can't get the bright reticle for : P-51D acemaker, P47-D27 and P47Dlate

what do you mean by "rename" ? coz if i rename, one file will disapear...a bit lost

How can I add your great Reticles to the B25, A20 ?

Also i have found a mod which gives the early P39 the Us Reticles, can I add your Version to them ???

Butch,
I'm sorry but I really don't know what is keeping the bright reticles from working with your P-51 Acemaker sight.

On renaming the P-47D-27 to P-47D-25, you should end up with only the P-47D-25 in this mod and no P-47D-27. You want the P-47D-27 to disappear.

Carnagexxx,
I'm not sure on the file names for the B25 and A20. You should be able to add them just like the Gladiator by creating the new folders in MODS\reticles\3do\Cockpit\ and copying the new reticle files into them.

Let us know if it works.
