many thanks for it and for your time and effort ..... please do not get discouraged by what it looks like lack of interest , i'm pretty sure you'll get deserved attention when all those great new maps come out.... so enjoy this quiet period cos when questions do start ....

just a thought , since we have new Malta map ( and the great one it is ) could you make new basic campaign for it , i mean as simple one as it can get so we can use it as learning template ? It's just a thought .... no obligations of any kind meant here .

again, many thanks

Excellent Idea Zo. I will do just that. Give me a couple of days to download the map and get an idea on how I can set up a campaign. Also, if you or anyone else has a historical referance for me to go off of, please post it in either thread. I need to konw a little more about how Malta effected the War in Africa and Italy. I have kind of an idea, and I know the Germans tried to take it with paratroopers, but I would like a little more info like which squadrons were stationed there, dates of major battles around Malta exc....

OMG speaking of Malta, and doing Research, if You haven't Seen the IL2 Movie FAITH, HOPE, and CHARITY.

Its unlike any IL2 Movie you've ever seen, this one is free to watch online, but they do sell a DVD of it, thats how good it is.

Actually, I was having some issues, and finally got the map loaded. My computer decided to defy my authority,

So I have a question for you guys, What period should we do our campaign map? We could do an early map, a mid-war map, or a late war map. What do you guys want?

Secondly, do you want a historical map, or do you want an option for the Italians or Germans to invade the island?

After knowing these things, we can then move on to deciding where the roads and sea lanes will be.

If we do an early historical campaign, it will be very simple and you may not see how to do some things like invasions or what have you.

If we do a mid or late war campaign, we could factor in strategic bombing of factories and how to have strategc bombing trigger the end of a campagin...

What do you guys think? Which way should we go?

.. well, IMHO for learning template simple one would be better .... but to have whole Malta DCG campaign would be dream come true .... could we have both ? .. one for learning and one for enjoying .

Anyway, whatever you decide ..... it will be a treat ... for me anyway Big Grin

I agree with FLy_zo, I'd like to see something like Faith Hope and Charity, somethere where you start out with GLadiators and maybe move to HUrricanes.

But i see what your askin, (IS this malta DCG going to be a Tutorial on how to make DCG's?)

If it's a tutorial then I'd say yes, make invasion a possibility cause we would want to cover as much as possible.

However, I'd DEFINATLY like to see something Historical

Excellent Dixiecapt

It sounds to me the best approach is to have two maps. The first one for 1941, and the second one for 1942. To be historical, it sounds like no invasion attempt to be made for either. Also it sounds like anit-shipping missions should be the focus for the campaign, so that is a design eliment to consider. I could populate the harbors with static ships, and if the British sink some major capitol ships that could trigger the end of the campaign ... just some thoughts. That or just a % of a certain static ship type in addition to anti-shipping missions on moving ships.

If we did do an invasion attempt, I would probably use paratroopers. I would put a Tank factory (ie - supply_depot) and have a dropzone connected to it. If the Germans / Italian partroopers capture the dropzone / tank factory they then produce tanks on the island that work their way to the airfields.

Hmmmmm ...... 8)
