Adding Zeppelins, a possibility?
#1

Hi everyone! Big Grin

When I was playing a good old flying game from 2000 or so called Crimson Skies, I was wondering: Is it possible that, when we have the capability, we can add zeppelins to the mix? Smile

Ordinary zeppelins and the aircraft carrier type zeppelins you can find in Crimson Skies (you know, the ones where you get dropped out of an internal hangar, and can dock again with a hook system), and aircraft which can 'land' and launch from those aircraft carrier battleships of the sky. 8)

And maybe even the small posibility that you can fly one of those behemoths yourself! Big Grin

Crimson Skies. That sais enough, right? IL-2 in not an arcade game.

Carriers? Like the USS Macon and Acron? That'd be hard.

'K, Crimson Skies IS an arcade game, but zeppelin battleships might just add new options to the game, like in that alternative history novel in which they use Zeppelins in the pacific. 8)
Only I forgot the name of the novel.

I'll post it here as soon as I find it. Smile

Was it "The Master of the World" by Jules Verne?

I'm still searching Fisneaky, the adress is somewhere in my files.

I had an idea: those barrage and observation balloons, if someone could figure out how the code of those works, maybe we can use it to build our own zeppelin flight model! Big Grin

If a baloon can be given a flight model, it could be used as a USN blimp, i guess.
They were actually used in the war. Other than that, I don't think there were many zeps flying around in WW2

edit: Nice Zeppelin you made there!

US Navy operated two Akorn and Macon, but they were gone by 1935, both were lost in accidents. These had special parasite fighters developed for them and would indeed be a cool addition for what-if scenarios.

The problem is floating. I dident see any FM math in the game for makeing a aircraft float and or move slowly.
