Adding Zeppelins, a possibility?
#31

Actually, the Germans used a Zeppelin, the Graf Zeppeling II, to do long range reconassaince up to 1941, after that it was , unfortunately Cry , scrapped on command of Herman Goering.

But we could also use zeppelins for the much wanted WW1 scenario's 8)

Maybe the Lerch FM with serious modification would work. It can hover, raise, and lower slowly. If its forward thrust could somehow be drastically decreased without loosing its ability to hover(probably impossible) it would be nearly perfect.

Atleast the Lerch would finally have a good purpose for existing

with the intro of the OOF project, I think these zeppelins should now be receive some more much needed attention.

If we were simply to give it a plane's FM, probably like the U2's even if It could not remain stationary, In AI hands, no one would really notice a difference, but we would be able to notice the big airship cruising over london...

I have already started a Zepplin model under progress, and yes, with all the LOD's and damage etc.

however, without 3d max, I will have to give the models to someone else to convert into something usable by IL2.

Surely no two Zeppelins are quite the same!
Bring on the Zeps!
Let the sky rain Led! (or just plain old lead, if you like)

Eagerly awaiting a Zep to jam out with...

Thanks!

I think USN blimps would be welcome addition indeed. Seems they even did routine carrier landings! Guessing these are the largest ever a/c to land on carrier. 8)

LOL!

Blimps, Zeppelins - great idea but why not Foo fighters, too? A much better use for a re-skinned Lerch, maybe?
