all that's left is a redo of Kahili and some more testing of what all we had to redo from the last time we thought it was ready to go.

Segi Pt.

Ooooooo... I can see why the SCAT Log's I have talked about the Hazards of landing a Dumbo in the waters off Segi.

In fact the first mission in the VMF-213 Campaign I've planned to make actually has the Pilot flying with SCAT as they do this, and It's going to be HARD I Can see *smirk* And I love it! Take a look for fun.

Sqn: S.C.A.T.
Date: 3/21/43
Time: 0630
Wind: negligible
Clouds: 1/4 broken at 3,000 feet
Locn: Tulagi SPB
Task: transport marine scouts to Segi, New Georgia

ORDERS:

21 March, a group of Marine scouts drawn from the raider battalions and graduates of the combat reconnaissance school are to be landed by PBY Catalina flying boat at Segi Plantation on the extreme southeastern tip of New Georgia. Also among the crew are two Marine fighter pilots, their objective is to become familiar with the area. Once at Segi the Marine Raiders will rendezvous with Coastwatcher Donald G. Kennedy and will use natives as guides as they split into patrols and set out to scout possible landing beaches, landmarks, and motor torpedo boat anchorages. These patrols will be checking travel time from point to point, taking bearings on channels, scouted enemy dispositions and installations, and sketching crude maps to help fill in the scanty information already available. Most of the island is reef-lined, with Marova and Grassi Lagoons bordering the coast so be very careful when landing, and taxing to the beach.

"Wind: negligible "

With the WindConfig MOD available, it's a shame to leave that aspect of the environment out of these new campaigns. That MOD has turned this game into a simulator more than just about anything else to come out of this site. Mind you, I'm not saying that this Slot map isn't absolutely over the top as far as additions to this game is concerned. All I'm saying is, it would be an added bonus to include the wind in these campaigns. If the player chose not to take advantage of it, it would be a simple matter of not installing the mod, or at least just temorarily disabling it, but the wind parameters could still be placed on the individual .mis files and comments placed in the brief for them. I realize that this is not a small feat either but I believe that it would add a tremendous value to the campaigns.

I agree, and I do have the wind mod Smile There just isn't much wind on that Clear day... it's present, but negligible.

On days where the weather is a bit much there is added info such as wind speed, direction, and gust strength.

My squadron's primary mission writer is talking about writing Dumbo missions. Yeah, looks challenging, but that means that one or two of us fighter jocks will have to transition to multi-engine flying targets. One of our pilots has a fair amount of time behind the stick of the P-38L in Il2 and I have a lot of hours flying five or six different types of twin engine FS2004 aircraft. Wanna place bets on who gets transfered to twins? :?
