Which ver. of Sound Mod is considered the most realistic?
#1

I was browsing through the topics on the forum and found very little information about the exact differences between 9.0, 9.2, 9.3 and 0.6.
So far i have tried 9.0 and 9.3 and found them very different, in 9.3 many sounds sounded kind of flat.
As many others (probably), i'd like to have as realistic engine and gun sounds as possible.
So, which sound pack is considered most realistic (or best/most convincing) by the community?

9.0 here , seen no reason to change and no major problems (when I follow the instructions Wink )

I'm with 9.2.But to be honest,i prefer the 9.1.For me,the 9.1 was the best of all.
But i can't find it anywhere+with it,you can't use/instal the newest mods and the "Dive sound" mod as well...

I've been throught most of them... if not all...

.90 was great, NEW SOUNDS MAN! woohooo!
.92 didn't notice not much difference to be honest, still great!
.93 had some new sounds, and some improved sounds as well, it was good, only had it for about a week though...

SFX 0.6 is epic, it's the one I currently use and it has loads of new sounds, I'm not going to list them here, but it's truly epic.

SFX 0.7 I don't know anything about it, apart from the fact that it doesn't support some of the mods, hence I don't use it...

All in all the guys have done some epic work here, and all you need to do is select a soundmod that will work for you. (I recommend SFX 0.6!)

Ok... I have 9.3 but it's a bit buggy for me, some cannon sounds are very low.

Considering I already have many mods installed with this version, i it possible to install over it without mucking up anything?

just tried 9.3 and 9.2 back to back and 9.2 sounds better to my ears. In 9.3 the engines sound like they would sound when you stand in a field and the plane passes half a mile up overhead: kind of muddy and distant.

to Metatron: i've installed 9.0 to 9.3 to 9.2 to 9.3 to 9.2 on top of each other with no problems, as long as you install the wrapper and ac_installer every time again too.

I've been using 9.3 and not wanting to change because I was afraid to install over all the 40 or 50 other mods, like Metatron. Several of my favorite planes' engines just aren't loud enough, and I don't want to muck about trying to find the right wav files and editing them.

So, now I'm real curious about trying sfx 0.6 on ArticViper's enthusiastic recommentdation, but...Vonkugel/anyone, is there any problem installing the sfx series over the "regular" old series?

(And why the strange numbering system--from 9's to 6's?)

i think 9.3 fine for me
also 9.2 gets weird buzzing and beeping when too many guns fire at once, could be glitch but ?????

its back to 9.0 for me, all in all (for my ears at least) it sounds the most balanced/real.

9.2 here also. I'm happiest with this version overall. I have tweaked a few of the sounds to my own liking though.
