Nice work guys,
We can only work towards the real thing...
great work poncho. I also thought that cresent thing was some kind of brace but wondered why it was a different color as apposed to the rest of the hood. . I'm with Chris too....this is just fabulous the work you and taurus are doing. I'm not salivating like Chris however....I'm just plain drooling like a lab after drinking water....LOL Just call me slobber jaws till I can fly this baby.

QUESTION:
You can take what I know about modding, stick it in a bugs butt and it will still roll around like a ball bearing in a box car- so please don't laugh at me whe I pose the following:
Is it TECHNICALLY possible that at some point, some ambitious Jugnut could make a viable D-30 or even N model P-47 with the correct loadouts/ performance?
I saw a beautiful Huricane MkIID as a mod and it got me thinking..................................
(my thoughts are never very far away from the jug)
Chris,
I've been curious about that one too. Adding the filet would be fairly easy I would think. Supposedly the guy that made the jug included the 3D model for a D40 but Oleg chose not to include it.

I'm pretty sure that it is possible to do this. I think the problem is finding a modder with the Java programming skills that would be interested in doing it. My understanding of Java is too superficial to do something like this. Maybe thirdeye will get there. But as he suggested, the learning curve is steep. :?
keep at it. It will come.
Love you guys for this!
The throttle quadrant gave me some grief. The original texture plus the Brazilian photo references shows a pitted surface like "dry spraying" used on some instruments. I now believe it is corrosion on the face as used for the restoration. All early original photo references show smooth face plates. (Plus there are no phillips head screws either!).
The texture is layed onto a slab sided mesh :?
Yellow indicates more work required.
Cheers,
Fantastic Taurus.
I notice it would seem you have chosen a different shade of red for the mixture handle?
This is much more believable than the "hot pink" of the rest of the red textures from the original pit- any chance that all of these controls could be repainted with your "new and improved " red?
Re: throttle. I think it's looking awesome, as bolox said, leep up the great work!
Chris,
The shading depends on the lighting but I know what you mean, the early pink was a shocker. I will work down the colour to a deeper tone in the textures to suit. You are quite correct in that the deeper red seems to be the more authentic colour.
That brings up another factor. In direct reflected light the textures are pure white. In full shadow pure black. Do the .mat files need to be tweaked or maybe the tga alpha level needs to be grayed back? I don't have time to look into this right at the moment. (I think the subject was broached a while back but it concerned transparency, need to check it again.)
Cheers,
Taurus.
(Thanks for the link bolox, more great reference!)
