B5N2 Kate
#1

Wassup peoples?

Anywho, I really like the B5N2s and such, but the constant rolling to the left is a tad (OK, more than a tad) annoying. Nothing like constantly fighting with an airplane to take the fun out of flying! Especially when it is critical that an aircraft fly straight and level to accurately place torpedoes.

Yes, I know about the whole over-torqued business, but that could be overcome with trim settings, and if there were none available, I could still deal with the rolling if there was more than one engine. Alas, with Kates being a single-engined aircraft with seemingly no trim controls, what can be done to be able to let go of the controls for more than five seconds without pitching down about 65 degrees?

Maybe some very smart people could just tweak the cockpit so that we can use trim, even if that isn't historically correct*, as a separate and optional cockpit mod. Shouldn't be too hard, right fellows? Although, is there any way we can go "in the backdoor" so to speak, and change some values around in Notepad to make trim work?

*I have no clue if the Japanese left out the trim on Kates! Seems weird, though.

FM EDIT

Trim is a FM entry.

Then if the FM edit can't be done, then we really need a new aircraft to add - b5n2 with it's own FM.
Somehow this is only solution to this crappy situation here with this lovely aircraft.

A new slot would be great. Probably would require more than the Shiden Kai cockpit though. That thing is quite an immersion killer.

Right, I'm glad some folks here share the same feelings. Hopefully a brave person can pick this project up and someday this idea will come to fruition! :o
Along the same lines, I wonder about other torp-bombers people were talking about with torque issues (I can't remember the post), such as the Avenger. I haven't yet flown one of them, so if the torque is an issue in the FM in those too, maybe this very smart person (or people) could work on them as well...

Making a new slot and fixing that FM is quite simple (at least for me it is)

But I'm walking the thin ice with my new slots. they get past the new slot rule loophole as my 47/51s are different block numbers, which was a variant. How could i do a Kate within the rules though? Until a valid loophole to the new slot rule is given for this Kate, i will not work on it... Sad

Ah, well, you folks can only do what's allowed, so I don't blame you, and nobody else should because you guys are doing a fine job here!

... The Avengers also have a lot of torque, but at least they have trim, so I don't believe it's necessary to change anything with them. Just be careful on flaring during final approach or you'll end up in the drink!

On another note, I realize it's quite hard to match existing cockpits with the modded planes, so I'm not being ungrateful, but, the Avenger cockpits seemed really well matched, and then I started reading the little warnings in Finnish! Still alright, though!

Well yeah, avenger is not so ''porked'' like B5N2 and B6N, trim's working fine, level stabilizer also, so is pretty much fine.

Here I'm not sure if I understand why there are problems making new slot B5N2.

Well, you could do the B5N1 model instead. It's got that beautiful rounded cowling and is a much prettier animal than the Model-2.

Find a legit variant of the B5N2 with the same 3d as the one now and we'll talk. I'm having trouble getting 3d for my new slots now. I don't want to do more work to make a new Kate.

My mistake. I thought you were interested in making one.

If a new "slot" is created maybe the canopy could be opened as well
