Anyways I have un installed 8 times and re isntalled I have system restored disk cleaned cleaned my reg files with a reg cleaner I have even gone as far as downloading a cracked copy to see wether that will help it didnt even though i have the original i figured it might have been a securom issue every time i load this game i get this message "IL2fb has stopped working doesnt even get to a load screen i have tried putting it into a seperate folder other than prog files and i have tried turning off UAC it's crap forgive my grammar and spelling as i dont have much time this morn to go back and err add punctuation. but please any help would be appreciated thanks

AMD 64 x2 5000

Not clear from your post if you can't reinstall and get working your original il2 1946 or you're trying to get it to work with mods.

Anyway, try installing just your original 1946 disk and see if it will run. If it doesn't, do search of your hard drive for securom, if you find it big problems... I'll never buy anything made by sony again, as this crap is their idea. If you have this rootkit then it's pretty much wiping your hard drive and removing your dvd player as well, as it lives in there (called protection), to get rid of it. And IF it comes to that you may as well dump vista and return to xp and save some of the grief of bungling bill's latest efforts. But hopefully you won't have to do this.

If you can get your original 1946 disk installed and working, preferably in another folder instead of programs (as vista locks anything put in programs i.e. no software changes allowed and therefore no modding), to say c:/games/il2, then you just need to patch it carefully. 1946 is also v4.07, apologies if you know this but lots of people assume it's 4.08 and it's not. If you get that far, it's just reading this site carefully regarding mod installation, and you should be up and running.

Good Luck

ok i did a search for securom all i found was a read me for it but no actual file anyways what I think it might be is for some reason an absence of this program that is causeing the crash ie vista not letting it install and the game looking for it causeing the crash i originally tried running the game with mods but have just tried running it standard after that ie i have un installed and re installed 10 times now defragged etc it's such a shame not being able to play this

Ok, we'll assume that you don't have the securom problem, but you still haven't made the situation any clearer, lol!

Are you using a dvd disc or a downloaded version to install the game, (the downloaded version doesn't mod without a crack...) If you have a disk put it in and right click on dvd drive in My Computer and click explore. Find A.exe on the dvd and double click this, it should get the game to install, when it starts to run it will ask you to ok the default installation folder, change it to something like c:\Games\Ubisoft\il2, so that you will be able to tweak the game later.

I found this link about vista 64 (much may apply to vista 32 as well) and il2 which should shed some light on the subject for you:

If you manage to get the thing to install you are in luck as there is now a unified mod install, big download but one click and it does all the work for you, lol! Second from the top on homepage.

Good luck...
