Weapons convergence MOD proposal.
#1

This idea is stolen from elsewhere (its part of one private MOD )but I really would like to see in in AAA pack !

For those aircrafts which has machineguns only (P51,P47) would be very nice if the settings for machineguns convergence will set convergence for outer pairs of machineguns and cannon convergence for inner pair of machineguns. Rest of machineguns will spred between. So for example for mustang the convergence can look as following:

outer pair 400m (set by pilot as machinegun con.)
middle pair 300m (atomaticly calculated and assigned)
inner pair 200m (set by pilot as cannon con.)

From my perspective some aircraft which are not shooting through proppeler ring would gain more attack range flexibility.

It would be allowed only for new slot planes

No weapon mods for stock ones !

Watched a documentary interview with one of the Tuskegee Airmen.

What caught my attention was how he was explaining how his gun convergence was adjusted to suit him.

It was something like, outer-guns - straight ahead; next in-board ones - converge at 600 yards; inner-ones - converge at 300 yards.

He said he could get hits no matter which way the bandit juked.

A single .50 cal gun's hits can hurt; didn't need all six on target (although desirable).

My numbers may be a bit off; but it was interesting to say the least.

Back in CFS days one guy did "rearrange" the DP file for that "spread" gun convergence.

But as is the rule here........it needs to be honored.

Nothing need to be honored

Realism first, then online things

Nobody thinks about the offliners, like in the original Il2 Forums

Site rules, i dont se any rules violation, it is a same kind of modification as new gunsight, BAR.
But this is not an issue since there are few planes which can benefit from it and some of them are already reworked and have new slots like P47 ?

Realism hmm as far as I saw the way how the guns are fixed in a wing there isn't "realism" problem.

While i am changing the power of the .50s on my new slot planes, i am at the same time, NOT.

I am giving them a simulated API APIT belting. Different from changing the .50s power. If someone else wants to give new slot american planes API APIT, then go ahead, im not stopping you.

Realism first..........

Can this be done here?

I'm not sure what the point would be in the game. 8 .50 cals couldn't shoot down a paper airplane, let alone only 2 hitting the target.

Someone needs to practice his gunnery.

Realism.. as I said one guy which is making some fancy stuff (manned AAA, retractable ball turret on Liberator and so on ) has this modification in his mod (based on 4.05). I will ask him if he is wiling to share some of his knowlage regarding this.

Historical accuracy... I will ask probaly ona 8th AF forum if this option was available to pilots.
