LI2 Russian transport, A question
#1

I often live in a fog, and I know the Russians used it as a transport and a bomber thus why it carries bombs but can anyone else besides me remember it having a bomb sight in the game? I thought it did but now I can't seem to get it to activate, If your Li2 has a bombsight and you can get it to come up please tell me how you did it .

thanks

Yes, I have a pilot bomb sight mod, similar to reflex sight. It works fine with LI2, as well as with any other plane of IL2 sim!

Very little to download! Here are the instructions:

There is also something else that the LI-2 brings in mind: It flies a lot better than the C-47 and L2D, which are supposed to be practically identical to LI-2 by their flight models..!

The C-47 is clumsy and nose heavy and has very ineffective elevator which results it crash on landing with realistic speeds. Except that the C-47 is a nightmare to land, it does not climb higher than 2.7 k with 100% fuel. Full tanks are required for C47 supply missions in online wars like IL2 War where I am usually flying these planes, so I have had time to get experiences about it. Many pilots avoid flying it, and it is known as 'the worst plane to fly in IL2 sim'.

LI-2 is supposed to be by pilot's view a twin brother of C47, but the LI-2 flies quite like another bird! It climbs without trouble, it is very agile and easy to steer even with 100% fuel and it lands easily with full flaps at slow speed, which results to crash with C47.

I guess the original IL2 sim makers have fixed the flight model bugs when making the LI-2, but the C47 bugs are still there? Perhaps the fixed LI-2 flight model could be used to replace the bugged C47 model? I only do not know how to do it..?

It's easy to do that, but technically that would be cheating. Only new slot planes get a new or other FM, since only the players with the C-47 FM-mod would have the better FM.
I know, with this plane it wouldn't matter too much, but it would be cheating anyway and nobody wants that here. :?

It would not be cheating, because the fixed C47 could be put to the next update of the IL2 War mod pack (now version 1.2 in use) and so all players would use it!

Rather, it might save the online war, because now C47 pilots are disappointed with the unrealistic flight properties of it and resist piloting the bugged plane.

Fixing bugged one in favor of realistic one certainly is no cheating but an act that pilots would be very thankful for ..!

Of course I do not know where the C47 (and L2D) bug is be so it may be too early to suppose its flight model might be defect - it could even turn out all three C47 variants might have same flight model.

The bug makes C47 fly like loaded with a ton or two of extra weight in its nose, or as if it had a badly damaged elevator causing its controls become very inefficient.

So the bug might as well hide in the balance of the C47 or in its controls or anything else related..?

Everything you described is defined in the flight model.
There are some subtle but nonetheless noticeable differences in the two FM's, i test-flew the planes and they behave very strange indeed.

(Note to mods: this is about flight models behaviour, not FM modification)

Indeed, but just remember, for any sanctionable change, it must be in its own slot. Keep this in mind, and the thread will remain. Any deviation...

On that note, as with the others that need their own slots, what else could be added to the bird? Extra load out? Improved 3D? etc etc...

If continuing guesswork, the C47 bug has either been corrected by the original sim programmers for the LI-2, or if LI-2 has been made first, the bug has born by accident when they later copied the LI-2 flight model to C47 and L2D.

It is of course another matter, if anything can be done to fix the cripple elevator bug of the 'Crash-47' by forum rules, even if it were a clear bug..?

Other nicknames by IL2 War pilot for the bugged C47 are 'Camel' and 'Coffin'..! Anyway, I am now lucky to tell to IL2 War team, that the bug has may have been spotted so they can perhaps pay attention to it when preparing the next mod pack!
