Zeppelin object possible?
#1

Hey all, first post here. Just want to say what an incredible job you've all done. All the work here really opens up a whole new world of possibilities when it comes to mission building.

Anyways, after discovering the new soldier models last night while tinkering with the FMB, I got to thinking... Would it be possible to create (As the title states) a zeppelin model, for the objects section in FMB? I know we have the observation and barrage balloons, but stringing 10-20 of those together is time-consuming, and the end result is kind of awkward and ungainly. So, as I said, would anyone be willing to model a basic zeppelin? Not a working, moving airship as someone asked about several months ago, but just a static object.

Now I know that zeppelins wouldn't be all that historical, but as I'm putting together an alternate-history campaign, historical accuracy is kind of on the backburner.
I know everyone is busy around here, and I understand if nobody wants to waste time putting something together that will probably only be used by one person. Tongue But I would love to have something like this.

Anyways, thanks for reading all that drivel, and thanks again for the fantastic job you modders have done here at AAA.

Sounds good! I'd love to see more ground troops in general, thats why some of the custom airfields look so damm good! But an alternate history sounds quite fun too!

Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.

Before war broke out the Graf Zeppelin flew a mission around the coast of Britain to search for radar transmissions. Assuming that the Brits were using the same wavelengths as they were they failed to pick up the latest radar systems and wrongly assumed that Britain was well behind them in the technology.

Anyway, it would be interesting to see flights of Gladiators flying an intercept mission against the Graf Zeppelin. All historically feasible alternative scenarios.

Here is an account of the flight:

Flight 24 - Spionagefahrt

24. The Spionagefahrt ("espionage trip") of 2 to 4 August 1939, taking over 48 hours and covering 4.203 km, was the longest trip the LZ 130 made. The main goal was to secretly collect information on the English Chain Home radar system.[2] To do this the airship flew northwards close to the British east coast up to the Shetland Isles and back. On board were 45 crew and 28 measurement personnel. Lift off was on 1939-08-02 around 20:53,[1] and it overflew Hildesheim at 23:38, seen by very few people.[2]

Well to be honest, I'm not really asking for a fully operation battlestation, just an object I can place someplace to look pretty. However, if someone actually can create one, I would implode from happiness.

Holy gawd! Do you still have that model? I bet I could play around with it and see how to get objects into the FMB. Tongue

Possibly as a stationary object? Just a thought. They obviously didn't move very fast
