missing objects

I have the a modded install on three different machines - but one object in particular (there may be others but I have not noticed) do not show up iin the fmb in one of the installs - they show up as "object 175" with the little house icon, but are not there in 3d view nor in game. They do appear in the object drop down list, and animate in the 3d view window as normal though. In the other two installs they appear normally. Where is the first place I should look to troubleshoot the problem? static.ini? I'm stumped. BTW, the object in question is a tree cluster. The single trees all work fine.

I f you are using Perfect settings.... and have Forest=3 in your conf.ini...then you will not see the cluster of trees...they are converted to the random type (which are not in the static.ini and therefore will not show in the FMB)
if you change the Forest=2 ...then they will appear

As usual - the community comes through! Thanks for the quick reply.

The culprit machine is my primary computer and the only one on which I set forest to 3. My laptop is forest=2. So - basically, if I understand it, if I am going to use perfect w/ forest = 3, then I should add trees one at a time. Likewise, if I am building a campaign for public consumption, it would be best to do this anyway and avoid the tree cluster, no?

If I understand FF correctly, the trees are only invisible in FMB, which in theory means they should show up fine in playmode, right?

Yes.... I believe the tree clusters become the random type trees when viewed in game.... so you'd have to switch to Forest=2 to place them..then go back to =3 and see them in game as random

unless I'm confused and wrong :?

hI well I just tried it and they most definitely do not show up even in game mode. Only the single trees are there. hmmmm.

The location is a mountaintop on the ItalyAfricaGreece map which on the native map is mostly bare rock, if that matters.

Then maybe my theory only applies to trees added by the map-maker...sorry i thought I had it right

there are tree clusters which have had their colour altered and are a part of my Thai map mods...they will definately show in either =2 or =3
