IL2_MLR and mod maps....
#1

...has anyone tried to incorporate the mod maps?

IL2_MLR is a mission log reader program...for those who do not know of it

Look in: ...\IL2MLR2_201\Config\ for various .ini files that can be edited. "maps.ini" and "planes.ini" hold info for maps and aircraft types.

Looks like you need to find the corner grid coordinates for each map added to maps.ini, plus make a couple map images as well (screenshots from FMB maybe, or ... ??). Not sure if it will work though, since the path to modded maps isn't the same as the path to default maps, with the game closed.

Aircraft listing seems pretty easy, just add in new lines where appropriate.

Haven't tried any of this, just took a quick look at it.

yes I looked in those files too..... The aircraft and regiments shouldn't be too difficult....but the maps are another thing..

I tried with a couple of maps....the Channel/Thailand/Lybia.... and by just converting the ed_map_01 from tga to jpg ... i am able to use them as the _2D map ....but no airfields or bridges or names show as with their maps.

I'm thinking they must have taken screenshots of both the 2D and 3D maps...and stitched them together, because the 3D map only appears when zoomed in....... a LOT of work by the looks of it

No luck so far ... have been trying to import the Slovakia map. I think it may be because MLR isn't necessarily 'aware' of versions beyond 4.08m. Sad

Wow... was just trolling the IL2 MLR site, and see that Hawkinawa has released the source code for MLR. Perhaps now we can delve a little deeper into adding new maps. Not that I know a dang thing about source code...

Very good, thanks 32. I poked around a bit to see if there was anything remotely familiar in the "source code" stuff, but obviously it requires better tools than I posses (Delphi and whatever that JV-something-something is).

i am also interested in this. One thing i noticed is that, when you are in Hyperlobby, and you restart a Coop, stats from this coop are not correct anymore.Example:
pilot 1 gets 300 points,NO destroyed units are shown
pilot 2 gets 60 points, 1 destroyed a/c is shown.
I am useless to help due to lack of knowing how, but would give mental support for a project that could could come up with a decent log reader program
