[BETA] Turret Radar Modded Planes Part 1
#1

Hi all,

This package will add the turret radar from my He-219 to a few more planes.

These Planes are:

Bf-110G-4 - Note: You MUST download and install Ranwers' antennae mod first:

(The link is inoperative)

Beaufighter Mk. 21 (Australian)

F4U-1C (converted to F4U-5N with Ranwers' Mod, which is included. Works for non-USA countries only)

DOWNLOAD:

EDIT: Removed pending approval from AAA - Checkyersix

Just Unrar into your Mods folder.

For Bf-110G-4, copy files directly into your MODS/3DO/Plane/Bf-110G-4 folder.

Next package will be Mosquito and F6F-5N. If anyone wants to make a serrate antenna I will gladly include it.

Enjoy.

Not a good idea making such a mod for a stock plane Cry

They He-219 is already a mod for a stock plane. It replaces the Do-335V-13. So is Ranwers' F4U-5N - it replaces the F4U-1C.

The turrets are inactive - they don't fire, they just point.

As far as i understand, both are just betas in different stages of completion waiting for their own slot.

I know that, but even as such it could be used to gain an advantage over someone not having the same mod online, don't you think so?

Very well. I've PM'd Mr. Jolly about it. Should know soon enough.

Thanks, that should settle it then.

Your turret radar idea has a lot of potential and i would love to see it on all new slot nightfighters.

hiya what exactly does this radar mod do ?

It adds a turret without a gun to a plane which would then point towards the nearest enemy plane when flying during night allowing the player to intercept otherwise invisible targets. It's a neat idea but IMHO a bit borderline with regards to the rules when applied to stock planes - but then again it's not my call to make.

I would love to see this as an option for the modded nightfighters though.

Hi Jolly,

I don't actually play online so I don't know what effect the mod would have. Do changes on one player's version of a plane still work online if other people don't have them, or is there a server setting that makes mods work or something?

you are talking about the FuG 202 Lichtenstein radar. deployed in 1942. They operated on the 75 cm wavelength (490 MHz, or low UHF band), requiring complex Matratze (mattress) antennas, consisting of a total of thirty-two dipole elements, mounted in four groups of eight, each at the forward end of one of four forward-projecting masts. During 1943 it was improved to the FuG 212 Lichtenstein C-1 but by this point in the war, the British had become experts on jamming German radars so then there should be radar jammers with this mod in my opinion

IIRC not all radars had moving antennae, especially early ones but sure this is an original idea...

totally, if you have a nice big arrow pointing at all the enemies it's harder to get attacked by surprise.

The idea isn't that the radars themselves move. The mod is supposed to crudely simulate instructions a pilot would get from his backseat radar operator about the bearing and height of a target.

If it allows you to seek out aircraft online and especially in a full switch server it should have its own slot. Unless I dont understand what it does. Anything that gives you an advantage over an opponent online is not allowed here to the best of my knowledge or at least it shouldnt be.

If Im wrong about the mod or your intentions I apologize in advance.
