1946 with AI of 3.04

Hi guys,

Many thanks to the author of this mod, you have made this game truly enjoyable again. I too am an offline flyer and was completely sick of never ending climinbing chasing the emeny aircraft. Now instead of super human moves and unrealistic AI FM's I am able to dogfight with AI. Many thanks. For those of you who are still having trouble getting this working. I'm running 4.09 from the AAA community installer with AC 3.0. I took the AI folder out of the downloaded file and put it into Mods/STD/com/maddox/Il2 all that was in this folder was the objects folder and I copy and pasted the AI folder from the download next to it.

Tried it a second time, using tips from users in this thread. No change, endless spiral climbs and barrel rolls.
I wish so much it were possible to alter the AI for all users via a mod, but thus far any changes alluded to by others have only eluded me . Cry

It'll explain you why it isn't working at your or anyone else's end without hashing.

I was unconvinced initially that the mods work, because I could see no change. But, I must admit, I tried again after reading the posts of so many who claimed to see a difference.
There IS no difference. Period.
Maybe someday we will understand this aspect of Oleg's creation enough to make meaningful changes. Until then, I regard this mod as a noble, albeit failed, effort. Sad

The v3.04 Maneuver.class file must be left out for these mods to run.
That is why I don't think they are doing very much, if anything.

Maneuver.class is the key file for defining ai behavior from what I have been able to discover. It contains all of the definitions, event triggers, etc. By comparing the Maneuver.class files of V3.04 and v4.x, I am hoping to make a version of 3.04 Maneuver.class that is runnable. From this point it will be possible to test changes in ai routines in a predictable and verifiable way.

This mod just doesn't work, unfortunately. I just finished playing IL2 a minute ago and I can't take it any longer with the mentally-challenged, super-human, any-plane-faster-than-you-will-spiral climb-and leave-you-chasing-infinitely-desperately; and every plane does the same boring maneuvers. I'm an artist by profession and this sim, with the unique creativity of AAA, is a wonder to behold, a true work of art...but for the ai. It's as if you're just about done with your masterpiece, and then decide to give a passing blind man a crayon to finish it up. Nothing against blind folks, but for heaven's sake what is this ai garbage! By note, Il2 is my favorite sim, but luckily I've got BOB2, and the new OFF P3 coming in the mail soon. I had to put my twisted, and frustrated 2 cents in, I hope you beautiful folks don't mind... :?: Smile
