MOD IDEA: mirror style reflective effect for metal texture?
#1

The reason why I ask about mirror reflective skin is because, you can see, I have noticed that some late 40s and 50s aircraft have silver skin which have reflective to it. I have not ever seen any reflective skin existed on IL-2 yet, unless someone show me these.

Here is an example:

or

The reason why I ask about this is because, since IL-2 1946 is being expanded to 1950s, I am certain that there are some aircraft that have metal skin that are shiny and reflective. If no one have done this before, the ocean texture/effect in IL-2 1946 may have some clue to finding a way to enable reflective effect on metal skin theoretically?

this is not matter of skin, is just that this game it's too old, and doesn't have shadders on moving objects, the only objuct that have shadders in this game is water and it's static, this will need hardcore programing to achiev if it's possible, as the engine of this game is prehistoric, it will have so much problems to handle this feature.

Potenz is right. you would think that a quick .mat edit would do it.

Thats something in the alpha channels I think..

It would be absolutely GREAT if we could achieve something like this in this sim...

Oh yeah... I know.. the first time I saw that I went to the PS forum @ UBI and asked about t.. it still looks cool though.. but I cant see it happening in this sim without killing the frames.. can you imagine.. 16 planes in the air.. over water.. all with that going on... still pictures.. not even a slideshow..

Hell you can't even click on the rear view mirror in 46 without a major FR hit, can you imagine if the whole plane was a mirror

They were polished not silver. It is not possible in il2. This is as close as you can get in il2.
