Is there a mod that does this.. Lets you put objects like lights or foires on moveable objects.. it would be great for night carrier landings..

another variation of this idea is that naval ships had search lights to track and shoot AC at night.

Now that would be cool!

I think if you take a stationary ship object (stationary battleship) and overlap or move the searchlight object ontop of it, it might create this effect...???

Can anyone confirm this, screenshot?? I do not have an IL2 install on this computer

However, this wouldnt work for moving naval objects...

Cheers!!

correct, this method will work for stationary objects. Sometimes mission makers put guns on stationary transports or rail cars in the same way.

I would love to recreate the night landings after TF 58 attacked Ozawa's fleet using search lights on the ships.

lights are already on moving planes , so the way is there somewhere...........

and ships only go at zero alt and not all over the axis plains. must be a niche in the ship model for where you can place a light., muct look deeper into that.. would look cool at night to see ships and night carrier landings as well as moving meatballs

This would be an excellent mod. Navigation lights for all ships that would come on just like they do for the AI as well as deck edge lights for the carriers.

All lights and stuff require hooks in the msh. This would mean that the model would have to be exported from IL2. the hook added in Max, and then imported back into IL2. Im not sure if adding a hook and the search for existing is a good idea. What would happen if online the light was turned on and a player in that server didnt have the mod? i'd definitely like to get this in game though Big Grin

Nice idea although I don't know how it could be done aside from 'lighting fires inside things' like the image below.

That was just a bit of photoshop, but I was trying for the feeling of 'getting home.'

Carrier lights would be very cool- in fact I notice them on this British carrier

Notice the row of red lights down the side. Not sure at this moment if they are aft side too, but night navy aviation would certainly be transformed on some level Big Grin Perhaps the lights were always there, but they just need to be turned on somehow Confusedhock: 8)

Thanks for suggesting BC Smile
