WEP/GM1/MW50 Boost.Would like to create a different sound
#1

I think that the current wav for WEP sound is just a slightly higher pitch of the normal rpm motor sound, probably, for example "3501" instead of "3500".Is there some way to overlay another wav at the push of my wep button, something i might have cooked up to resemble a supercharger-like sound?
Am I on the right track here?

peebles,it can be done, i think, by introducing the new wav into the relevant prs file. you'll have to play around a bit, i'm not too clued up on it, but it could be done.
there are others who visit here who are more clued up on specifics, maybe one of them'll be along soon...

I actually think that too many files are currently used for the planes. An example is the P-47, if you listed to old war footage of this plane at crusing speed it doesn't sound at all like the revvs in game.

Alot of sounds on old footage was added later on, not while it was shot on film.

And actual sound recorded back in those days, still differs due to bad recording methods, aging of the material, processing material, microphone directions etc.

A good example of this, is the series of actual Hawker Typhoon/Tempest Napier Sabre engine sounds.
Beside the fact that very few people have ever heard the actual H12 Napier Sabre in real life, I think that it's real sound was much more heavy then the soundfiles presented currently.
(Where it sounds more like an electric shaver on steroids Tongue )
