Sorry for asking a stupid question, but where would one place the medals?? Do they go in the mods folder or elsewhere?

Sorry for bothering you.

This from one not near as smart as you guys (but I'm probably a heck of a lot older (67 in September) so maybe I can use that as an excuse) - can you tell me what to do with the files in the Bonus folder? The GUI one, I can understand the instructions, but no clue about the others.

Thanks a bunch.

eh , i should include more thorough instructions ... sorry for the trouble

so bonus folder contains :

1 custom background files

- in IL2 there are various background images ( main screen , campaign menu for each nation , single missions menu for each nation ) and they all go under same file name "background.tga". Only difference is their location in game folders .

a) main screen :

game main directory\ Missions \background.tga

b) campaign menus :

game main directory\ Missions \Campaign"desired nation folder"\background.tga

c)single mission menus :

game main directory\ Missions \Single"desired nation folder"\background.tga

so you can customize any menu background picture .... simply replace default file with new "background.tga" file

2 loading splash screen

this is the picture displayed while game loads ... can be replaced with custom file by replacing background0.tga file

now, since this works only as an mod ,files must get placed into "MODS" folder while respecting game structure .

proper file structure:

main game directory\MODS" name it as you wish" \Gui\background0.tga

and

main game directory\MODS" name it as you wish" \Gui\background0.mat

* if already having similar mod ( coming with AAA UI's ) you need either to disable it or make sure that you name your folder (" name it as you wish") in such way that it gets listed before any other similar mod . For example name it as : 00_splash_screen

3 medals sets

i've included new files for medals displayed when playing campaign ... for RAF , USAAF and USNavy

so for changing RAF medals :

among mod files locate GB folder :

fly_zo_GUI_1108_v_2\Bonus\medals_sets_512x512\RAF\GB

and place it to:

game main directory\Missions\Campaigns\

*allow overwriting

same procedure goes for USAAF and USNavy medals ...

that's it ...

please , before making any changes do backup any file you're planing to overwrite !

hope this explains it little better

Thank you for the response. Sorry it took me so long. I have had some illness in my close family and haven't been able to even get online.

Sorry for the stupidity, but some of this I just don't understand until someone like yourself (fly_zo) explains in some detail.

Thanks again.

Thank you for the wishes. Not so good though, I'm afraid. What happens when you get old.

Thanks again.
