I'd like to say I love the 262, and night-fighters, so I was wandering about any Nightfigter Me-262 projects. I figured I'd ask if any one was working on one.

There was an interview in Flight Journal Magazine a few years back with an Me262 night fighter pilot. He said they only used the standard 262 1a with ground radar vectoring to target. He flew Mosquito intercepts, since 262s could catch the Mossie and prop-driven nightfighters could not.
He said the two seat version was only ever used for pilot training. They never used the on-board radar in combat.

Another thing I remember from the interview was that 262s never tried to fly in formations- the throttle control was just too finicky to permit that, so only single plane sorties were flown- even wingman tactics were not practical with the 262.

only one unit was using Me-262 nightfighters at all, the unit of kurt welter (highest scoring ace on the 262 as a nightfighter only. 25+ is the current estimation. at one point this guy even had more kills then missions.). Most of the planes where Wile Sau single seaters.
but red 8 - 12 where the above pictured double seaters with radar.
they fley much more then one combat mission, I happen to have a copy of the flightbook entries of one of their pilots.
red 8 is on display in south africa in very good condition.

Would this be a difficult thing to do ? I could see someone coming up with an expanded cockpit model and I know that there are several models for antenna.
