Last night I set up a US/Canadian confrontation (just for fun you understand) using the Murmansk Summer map. The fight wasn't unusual. Flying P51B's against the Canadian Hurricanes, I shot down two whilst the other canucks carried on to strafe the base. Then it all went a bit wierd.
I don't have any screenshots of this unfortunately, but what happened was that I gave chase to the Hurricanes heading south across the border. I called the flight to reform, they responded, and I was catching up with ease. I did however get a little impatient with the other flight members, and I paged through the views to see where they were.
Two of them were flying flat out toward a river at low altitude. I thought they were a little close to each other... IL2 doesn't fly formation that tight.... The rear P51 caught up with the one in front and chewed his tail feathers off. Naturally that stopped his engine, and the offending pilot glided into the river. Gone. The other P51 flew onward, but straight into a bridge, totally unable to avoid his fate.
Hmmm... Either they need to leave the raybans at home, or the AI simulates arguments between pilots... [/b]
