I'm fairly sure the static.ini is for "objects" only. You can raise and lower objects in the static.ini file by adding the lines:

AddHeightLive 1.2
AddHeightDead 1.2

The 1.2 refers adding 1.2m of height to the object. I've got about 200 men at various altitudes by using this trick and by using the CrimeaBarn and lowering it, I have a nice wide ramp for something.

Looking in the static.ini, you'll find the lines;

equals buildings.House$46CraneBig1High
MeshLive 3do/Buildings/46/CraneBig1_W/live.sim

Just went over to page 25 of canonuk's Channel map thread - the one with the pictures of the Tower Bridge. If we could get this mod here up and running I wouldn't mind trying to Evel Knievel over the partially raised span!

This opens a question: if, if, we can ever get vehicles to control, will we be able to cross any bridge, or only those that vehicles can currently use?

And what might happen if you approach those areas close to water that current vehicles are banned from?

And oh, OH! I'd love to try what vehicles can do now: crawl along the face of a vertical cliff!

Well, you wouldn't actually be controlling a vehicle, you'd be controlling an "airplane" that goes very slow, acts like, and looks like a vehicle. So if you can take a landed plane there, that's where you could go :wink: .

Just tried to take an F6F over one of those large bridges that vehicles can take. It won't go. As soon as you hit the edge of the ramp the plane noses over, blows up, and destroys the bridge along with itself. It reminded me trying to hop up onto the invisible runway - the 'Stationary Ship' one. At least on that you can get away with it by going more than 20 knots. On the bridge that didn't work either.

I tried putting, from the 'Objects' list, one of those giant spans from Russia across the same river. The gear never left the ground, disappeared into the ramp and, when the prop hit the roadway, the plane blew up.

This may be something that will need working on if vehicles are just planes that look like anything but planes.

Someone just needs to import the collisions, edit them so that there actually IS a ramp, and put it back in there, assuming planes don't blow up on contact of a ground object, then the ramp should work if it's base vertecies are tucked away beneath ground level.

I'm on ships ATM, mabye I'll get on tanks afterwards, but if anyone else is doing tanks then remember to do this also, assuming you want to use bridges :wink: .

about the full combat idea, it is the best thing out as an idea, cause i say there are over 200planes, who needs more planes when we can man ships, tanks, blow up the alied divisions in a Kamfpanzerwagen6B TigerII heavy tank!!

Whoa I just got this very same idea of controllable boats and seems that there are lots of others who have the same in mind. Good thing this thread came across! Smile

We already have floating planes, gun stations, 3d models of boats and torpedoes so all we miss is for someone to put them together Big Grin

The boats would really open a whole new level of gameplay. And talking about other vehicles, no one yet thought of trains? Big Grin It probably wouldn't be that fun to drive 'em but mapmakers could make for example traintunnels where you could drive for safety and ofc it's possible to slap those AA guns on the train for players to man Smile
