4.08 and skins of 4.09?
#1

Hi boys and girls, is it possible to use the new default skins of the 4.09 beta with the 4.08 version of the game?

If so, where can I get the new skins?

Thanks in advance!

You shouldn't have a problem adding 4.09b1m skins to a 4.08 installation, just add them to the relevant plane's skin folder as you would any skin.
The 4.09b1m skinpack is a separate download from the 4.09b1m patch proper and can be found on several sites such as Mission4Today.

Actually there is a problem, because the default skins are not in the skin folder, they are coded within the file called "fb_3do20.SFS".
This file comes with the 4.09b1m skinpack download but is also present in the IL2 main folder of 4.08m and is 229mb large.

I could go searching the net for all the many separate skins (which is a pain in the butt) and put them into my skin folder, but that way those skins will not be the new default skins you know.

At least I have heard of it being possible, I just can't find someone to explain me how to.

... moved to proper forum section , please use "downloads" sections only for actual official mod d/l threads

thank you

Thanks Karaya, it works!

To sum up what I did:
Copied the .SFS files from the 4.09 patch to the game folder.
Checked the list of .SFS files for missing .SFS on my system.
Erased the entry of the .SFS file thats missing on my system in the .rc file.

Tadaaa! It works!
