Just messin' around , this was taken from live action during Okinawa mission .
Yummy , hope you like it , it is not finished and likely will not be released .
Just thought to get night fighters enthusiasts blood boiling a little bit

because it is the biggest alpha stage ever and need a lot of work to even somewhat finishing this thing .
Already unfortunately similar things is happening like original game shifted misplaced contrails on some planes only in this case while bf-110 engine have correct flame exhaustion when pipes are pointing up flame goes up and when the other side of the same engine pipes are pointing down flame is going down but the other engine is screwed ! pipes are up but flame is going down and when the other side pipes are pointing down flame is going up !!
Another wonder that was never meant to be .
Unless this can be somewhat figured out , it is big no no for any release . Sad

Ok... and what if new hooks were added, specifically for these effects....? Would you be able to have it so ONLY in low light conditions they are visible....?

Absolutely beautiful effect, too bad mod completion so problematic.

RAF_Magpie ,
we won't go deeper into any files changes except for original stock unless you are willing to make that happen with this effect visible only during low visibility through hooks .
The flame still will be reduced so during day it will be much more difficult to see anyway .
There is also one other thing like if plane start mission in air , there is no flame unless engine is restarted again
When beginning mission from the ground , everything is ok as engine must be started .
A lot of things to go through to find the best settings and trying to iron out these side-effects .

We're all for it , we just don't want to release a pile up of unfinished somewhat buggy poop .

Well, the issue from what I can see from your text is Hook related. All it would take is for a new hook to be attached to the engine mesh, along each exhaust out put, so for say the Hurricane you have 6 hooks. All you'd need to do is to attach your effect to that hook... basically what you have already done - just on something new.

Adding the hooks is simple, easy work. Could be done in a matter of minutes - but would need to be done for each aircraft - and could cause hassles with some mods... (easy fixed by doing independant aircraft mod fixes, say a independant update patch for the 110G4) So, what you would do is do it on a per aircraft basis - for example, those who would more likely be used at night - ie the Me-110, the Mossie, the Hurricane, the Lancaster, the He-219 and so on...

Ok , we got it , that's certainly worth of consideration and good ideas for fixin' .
We will try first to make it work with flame size and through more file entries
combinations and then will take a look at meshes .
Or if we get lost in it , if you will be so kind and showing us through PM perhaps a little small example or if you want to do that mesh stuff , we wouldn't be more than happy to have you also as one of this mod creator if is going to be ever released Big Grin .

Oh, by the way, please do continue work on this... I'll have a very good use for it once the Ar240 is done. It'd be great to really get some proper nightfighting happening in the game, up until now it's been sadly neglected. Probably why all the RAF heavies have been left out of more or less every sim going...
