MODS Folder Structure
#1

Hello everybody!
First of all, MANY thanks for all the people that develop mods.
I haven't done any mod yet, still I've downloaded a lot and I enjoy them so much.

Just because I've downloaded so many, I had quite a mess in the MODS Folder structure (and the 'files' folder too).

I've understood that the 'files' folder is now obsolete, with the wrapper.dll so I have moved all the folders to the MODS folder, with success till now. Also I've understood that the name of the folders inside MODS folder are not important, the important thing is the subfolder structure below. So in order to put some order, I've added a prefix to each folder, 'Aircraft_' to mods that affect 3do/Plane or /Cockpit, 'Cockpit_' to mods that affect only 3do/Cockpit, 'Effect_', and so on. Example AvalaHurricaneCockpit is now 'Cockpit_AvalaHurricaneCockpit'

I have 2 questions:

- There are some 'duplicate mods', example different people has developed cockpits for B109's, all of them quite impressive I must add. Apparently they don't error when IL2 loads. How it works, it loads the last cockpit it finds, following the folder structure or something? I would like to control that.

- Why in some 'Effects' mods, there are effect folders into 'ModXXX/3do/Effects', in other occasions under 'ModXXX/Effects' and in other occasions directly in 'ModXXX/'. Which is the difference? Are they 'mistakes' of the modder or some effects must be under 3do and others don't?

Thanks for your help,

Alex

Re the first - it loads the first one it finds and disregards anything after.
