[EDIT]Didn't refresh tab. Baco covered it.
Maybe a map from England to the Ruhr area would be more easy to make...
Size will be an issue yes. The Slot maps, which people think are huge, are about he size of Spain or a little large than that green square up there. The actors static file of that blue square must be huge, i bet.
Sorry I gave for granted that the map was built in scale, and taking as a reference map of the Mediterranean to redfox... Scale 1:4 ca
Right... just to give you an impression of how much stuff would have to be in that map...
Some major cities in that region:
Dortmund
Cologne
Frankfurt
Nurnberg
Zurich
Hannover
Bremen
Hamburg
Berlin
Dresden
Leipzig
Munchen
Strasbourg
Szczecin
Wroclaw
Poznan
Praha
Wien
Gdansk
Ostrava
Lodz
Bydgoszcz
Krakow
Warzawa
and that's just to name a few...
Now, we're not talking in the thousands of objects, nor tens of thousands.... I think we're talking in the millions of objects for these cities alone... A map of this scale on mainland Europe is probably impossible in IL-2 just by sheer power required by the system to run it.
Not to mention the fact that populating the map would probably take a good few years in terms of manhours in research and simply putting down objects...
I like the idea, it's just not doable on a practical, realistic level...
Only if we could have buildings auto generated like trees (yea, no damage model, just the 3D like), maybe that would make it easier to model big city areas. And make target buildings be actual objects...
Anyway, just dreaming.
