Redko,

I like your settings (I prefer with less green color, like that last ones) and the style of the screenshots. The stock lighting is bad in any altitude :lol:

Building textures are from LAL Rone and his mod which is contained in Ui 1.11.

Yes, that looks correct. I assume that you don’t like the square look? I don’t like it too. But that’s how texturing in IL2 for land works. If you have big land masses and big surface to cover with the same texture it is not so noticeably, but this is small land so little squares are more visible. That’s why there is that texture which looks fuzzy, both green and yellow, to connect sand and forest and to make it look as little blocky as it can. Sometimes and on some places that looks better and sometimes and on some places it looks worse. It looks better from lower altitudes and from more far distances.


And if you think that sand is too white, set the time at any hour except the noon, and weather at good or hazey. This is not like older maps, time of the day and weather conditions affect on the land, it looks brighter or darker. That is mostly because of BumpH textures, and the color and saturation of the textures. That is on purpose, I think that is more lifelike in this way.


This is how it looks for me, that is good weather at 10am (if I remember the settings correctly):

But, if you really don’t like it, you can go in the texture folder:


MODS\MapMods\Maps\_Tex\Avala\benghalli


And delete textures which names ends with “BumpH” and to see if that would be better. For example texture for rocks looks even better without it IMO (it is “avalarock.BumpH”), but light is different.

Ranwars has pretty specific english .... took me months until i've got it completely

so he did pay you an compliment there ( coming from him that is one of important ones IMO) :wink:


anyway, you should really post some "addiction" warning in d/l post ... messing around with this map in FMB and while hit play just to test something ... and bang, hour + went lost by flying over it . Damn you :wink:

Ecxellent map. And unusual too.
And i did fly over it over an hour just to look all the details. It is like from some other game: battlefield series or far cry (level of details). I have spend some time in Pacific (Vanuatu And French New Caledonia), and this is as real as you can get with old L 2 engine. I just hope that somebody will make a good campaign for this map.

that means you are missing some object which map is using ..... do check your AAA UI 1.11 install / or installation of any objects mod you may installed on/after UI 1.11 ( actual objects folders and entries in static.ini)

this mod has been tested (by me) on clean AAA UI 1.11 installation and it works flawlessly .

Of course that I know Ranwers is a joker :wink: , I wrote that for textures if someone really wants to try little different (by removing BumpH textures).

And if you all think that map is different and unusual that means I am happy man. That’s what I wanted to achieve. Thank you Big Grin

I'm sure there must be a way to obtain such result. I mean, you moders, have done a such impressive work with new sounds, skins, clouds, maps, IA and all....that my editing process is nothing compare to that!

The only thing i did is to use Gapa mod and rework lighting, contrast, saturation, blur effect. There is no new imported textures nor 3d objects, all in the pics came from you guys and your mods, it's IN the game already. If only we could find the trick which explains how the light work in this game we would have that kind of graphics.

I don't know if it's just a problem of a good combination of settings to find, or if it is more complicated like something in code of the game to remake. But I wouldn't understand why we would be able to mod all except the lightings. The first step was plane shine and landshine.
