HFSX is a pack-mods collection created in the purpose to fly SEOW Campaigns: it is not focuzed on mods-managing like U.I. or SAS ones, so I strongly suggest you better you use those last ones mentioned packs to add/manage mods.

I dont know about adding plane with it, but adding general mods is very simple... as skyomish said, make a MODS folder and put it there

I understand that the PAT Smoke mod is incompatible with a number of the newer mods, since it changes class files to work. Your best bet with something like HSFX is to install it using the JSGME utility- that way you can disable it easily and test it in combination with other mods such as the MDS mod to see if it works without totally screwing of your install.

I have it installed and todate there seems to be NO PROBLEM at all.
I fly online and off. IT works fine. And if you want to delete it. Thats easy its in one folder.
I went back and tried to use the JSGME utility. It did not work. Just the stock wing tip somke.
I have HSFX-V4.1

All your usual extra mods maps etc can be added to HSFX in a similar way to how UI 1.2 worked.

Set up a STD folder in root/MODS and copy in the com gui and i8n folder from root/files
These contain the ini and properties files which you need to edit to add aircraft and other objects.

Your original HSFX files remain unaltered in root/files. Don't move them.

Create MapMods/Maps folder in root MODS --- This is where you paste WIP Map folders
Copy and paste all.ini from root/files/maps to root/MODS/MapMods/Maps
Your text entries for new maps go into all.ini.

Do not change any entries in root/files

For online compatibility you may have to disable the MODS file
Rename root/MODS to root/-MODS

This converts you back to a pure HSFX setup.
Just rename again to re-enable all your WIP Mods
