Once again about AI...

Did you ever see how AI planes act after an unsuccessful belly landing? I'm talking about planes that resisted to the impact with the ground. They don't stop, they keep jumping and moving around like rubber balls.
Is it possible to make the AI planes act like human piloted planes after a belly crash?

Do you have vulnerability on?

Vulnerability? How can you fit the vulnerability issue if i'm talking about AI planes that go sliding along the ground at 300Km/h and breaking into pieces?
1st of all you cant set an AI to be invulnerable and 2nd i didn't say they couldn't break apart, they can but once the sliding stops the planes don't actually stop they keep jumping and bouncing.

I have no idea but you didnt say anything about breaking into peaces.

AI mods have been made, but the AI in il-2 (IMHO) has always been bad. Fly an early plane like a mark 1 spit, put autopilot on and the AI pilot will continually move the flaps up and down for better performance. It's completelly ridiculous; not to mention unrealistic! Wink

Sorry, i didn't explain well at 1st post
Friction Wrote:Sounds to me like you need to turn on realistic landings in your options. If that option is off, the planes will bounce like that when they land.

This has nothing to do with human pilots. I'm talking about AI pilots and AI pilots aren't affected by difficulty settings. Plus i'm talking about breaking apart AI planes that bounce, not invulnerable planes.

I've seen this before, many times. "They tumble and roll and dig a big hole"... except they don't sometimes. The AI pilot screws up his forced landing, sheds his wings, tail and a whole lot of other junk and then the empty, shot up, dented fuselage comes to a stop and starts rolling over and over without blowing up. It's kind of silly, but they always eventually blow up in my experience, given enough time.

Pah. Name another sim with better AI!
(I agree with you about the AI having limitations btw.)

That's exactly what i wanted to say, unfortunately my English is limited. But there are more different cases like a while ago i shot down a B-17. A bad emergency landing made him lose a wing and half of the other. Every time the wing touched the ground the plane rolled to the opposite side and then rolled again to the wing's side then again when the wing touched the ground it rolled to opposite side and so on. It's those weird bugs that annoy me like a strange force interacting with the plane.

LOL, the other day I brought down an He-111 over the ocean. I was in a Hurri Mk.I so it wasn't a catastrophic kill. He got lower, and lower, and lower to the water and then ditched. He lost his wings and tail assembly and the fuselage kept on a goin. It finally stopped and kept bouncing in and out of the water like a bobber on a fishing line. He did eventually blow up but it was pretty weird to watch.

Well I understand your frustration BF, but if it goes for me, I would like them to keep bouncing and stuff.
You see, the actual plane explosion when it hits the ground is not satisfying, I've always loved how real planes act when crashing - they don't immidiately break into 1000 smoking pieces, but hits the ground, then bigger parts separate from each other and so on.
As for the AI - AI is AI, it was mostly made to give player a targets to shoot at, of course they could do it better, I dunno, I've been playing lately with Cert's AI mod, I don't remember if there was this bug also, but if you haven't you should try it.

And that stuff you are talking about is nothing compared to what happened to me today.
I was playing on my fun map to test my new effects ( 2 airfields, 100 flak cannons per each ) so yeah when you get close to enemy airfield it gets really hot in the air ( imagine continuous flak explosions from 100 cannons ).
I've been trying plane's strength and then something funky happened. I was flying my Me-262, due to AA fire, my wings broke and my fuselage was falling down. Then when it hit the ground from about 3000 meters, it just kept bouncing and bouncing, and not exploding. I thought, pah, it was a bug.
The same happened with random IL2 Tongue Fuselage kept bouncing and was indestructible. Ok, that was just another time. Now I've tried with B29 SilverPlate.
Now I've been flying at 500meters above sea level, and dropped a Fat Man. Everything broke, but my fuselage kept flying and then occasionaly bouncing.

Oh, and I've had all settings on realistic so it wasn't god mode on Smile

So you see, there are a lot of bugs in this game and the AI is not the greatest Smile I strongly advise you to try the Cert's AI mods if you haven't already.

Yeah i got the Cert's AI mod but that just changes the AI behavior in battle
Lol nice video btw Big Grin
