Uninstalling HSFX4.1
#1

Okay, I want to go UP2.0. Well, I currently have HSFX4.1 installed. Can anyone tell me how to uninstall it?

Basiclly they are saying you have to start anew. There really is no better and more reliable way then starting with a fresh copy of il-2. Even more so when switching from HSFX to UP or from UI1.25. UP and HSFX are very set in what you can or cant do with them. Unlike the freedom of using AAA UI. This is why after many different versions I still find myself coming back to the UI instead of the new mod packs.

You do not have to start new. I successfully "uninstalled" HSFX and switched my IL2 base install to UP2.0 with no problems by simply following these steps:

1) Open GME and move all HSFX mods from right to left.
2) Move the 4.09m default "mod" from left to right
3) Run the game and ensure it loads as stock 4.09m. Run a QMB just to be sure that the game is running correctly.
4) Delete the Files folder, MODS folder (if you have it), jsgmemods folder, and all root level *.sfs files which have "hsfx" in the file name. Also you can delete the folder containing the HSFX documentation files.
5) Run the game again just to be sure stock 4.09m runs with no problems.

If 4.09m runs stock, then simply install UP2.0 per the installer.

With UP 2.0 you will have HSFX also, so you are not really losing HSFX, but have options, which is the really cool thing about UP2.0.

All in all, its painless, and best of all is you can keep your current offline campaigns, control configuration, and config.ini settings intact for running in UP2.0!

Good luck, and fun flights!

guys guys guys

Look at the content in the HSFX folder, count the files and compare. It's all the same thing except the button files a few more class files.

The neat thing is that its all HSFX now, same content. It's JSGME that keep tally on what mods you are working with. What's really neat about this generic mod switcher is that it will inform you if you are overriding some mod files.

Dont delete anything just use what you have.

So you could just install UP2.0 over the top of HSFX?

Somewhere in this forum I did see a topic about bringing HSFX up to UP with a smaller modding (I won't say upgrade Confusedhock: ) file. Look for a topic by pablosniper I think it was. 295mb and you get all HSFX and UP2.0.

EDITED, just found it, try link

(The link is inoperative)
