Old IL2 tracks wont play
#1

Every time I mod or patch IL2 I find my previously recorded tracks dont play anymore. I think there is a fix for this. Can anyone help me out here, as I have lost a lot of memorable moments.

Thanks

This is quite "normal", I didn't know there was a fix for that, are you sure ??

If you saved tracks as .trk ( after playing mission ) then you are toast , they won't play ,
they are gone with each different game version install .
If you saved track as .ntrk ( before playing mission ) then you can play them with any different
game install including the very first IL-2 Sturmovik game release as long as tracks are saved as .ntrk Big Grin .

Just set a key up in your controls. I use a button on my joystick to save the .ntrk at whatever point I choose. As to the old .trks not playing, if you have some that are important to you just do another install to the version the .trk is from and during playback save it as an .ntrk.

Hmmm,,

Just tried saving a track in HSFX 4.1 and it didnt play back the way it actually happened Cry This looks like an old bug has resurfaced.

.ntrk = you just entered mission sitting in your plane or air start , whatever , then hit Esc key ,
you'll see Start Recording option , click the button and you will be required to type whatever
track name you want , enter the name of your track and then click Save button .
This will kick you right back in to the game exactly where you've been before starting recording track
showing you ingame on the right side of the screen " Start Recording ( name of your track ) .ntrk " confirmation.
When you're done with recording flying action , hit the Esc key and click Stop Recording button .
Done .
Select Play Track in Main Menu , find your recorded track name and play it , there will be your
track recorded as .ntrk

In order to record .ntrk track as smooth as possible without much of planes jerking, you must
not use any
Time Compression option which is:

Time Skip
Accelerate Time x2/x4/x8
Decelerate Time x2/x4/x8

Thanks HolyGrail

I'll try that. Does recording while playing impact framerates? Is anyone else getting the incorrect playback where the actual events have changed?

Hi Dogtail2 Big Grin
.trk is next to useless , it will mostly cause different outcome if you play the track and
especially when using Accelerate Time x2/x4/x8 option during watching track .
Forget .trk recording by saving mission after playing .

Just like Rjel have said , it's more easy and quick to assigning keyboard key to Quick Start/Save Track
in controls setting and then just hit the key when your mission start and it will start recording automaticaly
giving name to track 0001 , 0002 , 0003.ntrk etc...........when you're done hit the key again and recording will stop .
One of the rules if you're recording track .ntrk is trying to have as minimum game stutter or any unexpected
one seconds freeze/pauses as possible to prevent planes from jerking moves when playing recorded track .
Any stutter and unexpected one seconds freeze/pauses will have impact on smooth moving of planes causing
them to fly and moving in a bit jerking fashion when you will be watching recorded track .

Recording track have no FPS impact but once playing the track and recording with FRAPS for video editing ,
FRAPS have impact on FPS .
