HSFX CTD after main menu
#1

Hi,
I did a clean install, 4.08, 4.09m, then HSFX 4.0, and finally 4.1. The game runs with nothing activated, but if I do activate the history mod, then the loading screen and the main menu are both in Russian, and shortly after it gets to the main, it crashes. If I deactivate the history mod, it works again. Also, I didn't see the Seafury listed in the QMB, and hardly any maps showed, so I put my old QMBPlus file into the mods folder and activated that, but nothing changed. Then I just copied my old air.ini into the the install (after backup!), but that didnt do anything either. It seems that I'm missing something pretty general here?

Check your game fold to make sure the HSFX did not write the
install to "FORGOTTEN BATTLES" I does that at times. You must insure
it installs to the correct GAME PATH>

How did you download the HSFX files? The torrent seems to be the way to go- regular downloads are more apt to get corrupted because the files are so big. Did you try checking the size of the finished download to make sure it was all there?

Since I run Vista x64, when I install stuff, I have to ( and do) make a manual path change to Program files (x86), and also In the game folder that I have, there are jsgme and hsfx tools folders, so I'm sure that everything went into the right spot.

I checked the MD5's and everything's there.

I've also tried to add my old missions via the jsgme, but they don't show up. But they do if I just directly copy them. I've also noticed that the loading screen is the original game screen, showing v4.90m; should there be a new HSFX screen like there was for UI?

Thanks for the help!

Move, Copy, or Reinstall somewhere outside of Program Folders, like C:\Games.
I think that Vista is messing things up on you, regarding permissions and changing files, etc.

clean install directly to c:/IL-2.... and it works! thanks!, now, to go find out how to get more maps to show up in QMB, like Korea.... Is there already a thread on that?
