Here is my second skin. It's an A6M2-N "Rufe" based on the Aleutian islands from 1943-44. Template is by: Hynkel. Apply your markings in the Arming section/FMB/QMB.

I always enjoy flying the Rufe, thanks for the new skin, but...but the color seems a bit "pink".
You sure its the correct tone? Usually the color is a bit white-Beige, or beige-cream , or
a slight yellow-white-with-a-dash-of-green.

The color came from a book of WWII planes. In the book that was the right color. The book is probably wrong though.

It's hard trying to set color values from b/w photos. Indeed many profiles are approximations but the artists work as best they can and even then we have to assume color printing gives the results as done on original artwork.

Besides, many skins posted are often fictitious ... as long as they look good, having color values off a bit is no big deal. That's my take on the matter.

Have fun making them. There will always be enough members who will be pleased with new skins.

Well, I am back from my quick internet research on Alaskan Rufes.
I was correct. There does not seem to exist a lilac ,or pink color for Japanese airplanes.
Although some aircraft were painted pink for camouflage, those airplanes were for
the Desert war, such as Pink Spitfires by the RAF. Certain shades of pink are great as camo for
desert Ops.
But these particular Japanese aircraft would be completely useless if they were flying around
painted pink against a vast blue ocean.

Now The reason for this is they are actually painted GREY. But the japanese paints were not
very good and after awhile the top coat starts to vanish showing the red-colored primer
underneath. This grey color mixed with red, gives the illusion of it being pink or Lilac, or a violet
colored tone. So yeah, I guess it can be colored "pretty in pink" but ONLY on certail parts of the
airplane.

Its always great to research a cool airplane and finding out new stuff.
But never trust those books with color art profiles. Sometimes they are completely wrong, or the
book is very old (or badly scanned) and the colors are all wrong. That has happened to me a few
times in the past. So it is best for you to do your own research and look at diferent profiles as well
as look at real photographs close up.
