Getting Started
#1

At the moment life has handed be a slight curve ball but once settled (30-60 days) I will be installing a modded version of the game. I know there are a great many posts on how to do this this but my question goes to the very first thing to do.
I have d/l'ed all the Engine Sound Mods (09, 091 & 092). Does it matter which one I install to get the mod started? Is 092 the better one?
(in the meantime I am d/l'ing all kinds of mods to install once I get the basics done. There's some exciting stuff out there)

Sorry for such a noobish question but I figure I'd ask before I started posting "can't get the mods to work" crap and all.

Thanks in advance.

Ummm, OK. Just what are the differences please between the three.
Primarily I am interested in FMB and map modding plus flying some of the AI planes. I've heard varying comments on the engine and guns sounds including that they sound like the default markings look on planes, that is, "stuck on" rather than seamlessly blending in. Of course I will make my own decision based on what I hear. But besides the "Sound" mods, what other things do the various releases do/allow?

Thanks for your patience with my rather basic questions.
And by all means, if there are thread topics that cover this, just send the link my way or point me in the right direction.

Hi Boris

I have two versions of IL2 49 installed.
1. with the 09.0 sound mod for ETO missions (eg. Europe, desert maps skins and mods)
2. with the 09.2 sound mod for PTO missions ( eg. pacific, AVG flying tigers, etc)

Once you have the sound mod installed you will get used to the new files added and get a better uderstading of what goes where, even with the now improved mod auto installer.

This is a great way to compare the two intro mods. Also I here there may be other Wasy sound mod versions in the works. The way these guys create around here is amazing, really quick, and I can see the new folks joining, it can be overwelming. Mr Jolly and Lt. Wolf are great hosts and run a great ship here. Cheers Boris.
