Buttons file corrupt or is it the sound mod .93
#1

Okay I seem to have a problem with the new spit14 download.
At the moment I am using the 797kb version of the buttons file which runs all aircraft up to the Typhoon with no problem. When I tried the Spit 14 the AC installer replaced this with the 799kb version which does not seem to work (crashed to desctop at 60%). So what I have done for the time being is to remove the spit 14 from the air.ini file and replace the 799kb buttons version with the 797kb version which works fine. Now if the 799kb version is actually OK then I think I should run the .93 sound mod again, but I cannot find it to run it again. Can anyone direct me to a copy please??

Always, always, back up anything before you make changes mate.. Smile
Take the existing AC installer 3.1, Place it in another spare folder, extract it to that folder, then you will have a choice of buttons files to choose from.
before now I have put a UI buttons file into my 9.3 version to get it to load correctly..

You did follow the advice to manualy install the MkXIV didn't you, as you are using the Typhoon mod etc

Yes I did see that and have edited the air.ini, plane and weapons properties. That is how I found out that you just remove the aircraft name from the air.ini list and you can leave the rest intact.
I think that it is still the buttons file that is to blame as the other one is working. I will try to search for any more buttons files but I don't think there will be any.

Small warning...maybe unnecessary- but this download( Spitfire) broke the back of my AAA1.1 installer's ( button's ) back.CTD at 60% & many of the newest aircraft that i had loaded disappeared and could not be loaded again ( esp with changes in ini, files in STD Folder) without another CTD.I suppose someone better with "buttons file" could work it all out , but the advice given to me is to wait for AAA1.2 Community installer...it may be only my problem...but I'm just sayin'....

OK,
I have now established that the 797kb version is the correct one and I have 2 versions of the game, one of them is the universal installation and the other is my own. Both of the games work using the 797kb version and have aircraft slots right up until the Typhoon. However, when I try to install the Spit 14 both games crash at 60%. Everything seems to be in order and as I said, once I remove the aircrafts names from the air.ini file then the game laods and runs again. I must admit it has me stumped at the moment, but I have found a copy of the 0.93 sound mod and I may try reinstalling that. I have already tried loading the latest wrapper and AC installer 3.1 but still no joy.

advice was to wait for AC INSTALLER ( not next AAA UI aka AAA1.2 Community installer)

AC INSTALLER contain buttons file .

BTW, i've installed new Spits on AAA UI 1.11 using autoinstaller ( not manually ) without any problem ... i have no beta mods installed there though .

So what broke your installations back isn't new Spitfire mod but rather conflict with some beta mod you may have installed .

 D____M...sorry I misunderstood...Should I download & run this:AC_INSTALLER_v3_0.exe?
So what is the 1.1 auto installer, where is it, how is it used on a typical a/c install? All I have been doing is dropping the mod into my mod folder & writing new lines into STD folder- do you mean there's another way to do it when the a/c beta doesn't have an auto install the slotted planes seem to?
BTW I did a complete AAA1.1 ( again) but then brought all the saved mods back into Mod folder...are you saying one of these is probably at fault? If so can I do anything about it?
I do want these flyable new planes in without the CTD's...

AC INSTALLER contains data for all planes published up to the date of AC INSTALER's version.

so always have the latest version of AC INSTALLER installed ( even if you are installing older mod which may instruct you to install older version)

Newest version you can always find in most recent new plane mod ... at this moment it is Spitfire and AC INSTALLER 3.1

make sure that you choose option 6 when dos prompt windows appears during installation
