Nvidia 280 help please - water+1 or higher kills framerate

Hi there,

I've been experiencning weird problem. When I run Il-2 with water=0 everything is ok, very high framerates, etc. However, if I change it to anything higher than that - 15 frames or so...

tried warious drivers, nvidia settings, no joy. Ida know what I am doing wrong.

The DX Diag data is nice and all, but we need to see your Conf.ini and the settings you are using for the Nvidia Control Panel.

My guess is you have something in the Control Panel cranked WAY up. (Anti Alliasing/Ansistrophic Filtering).

With water the problem is not the GPU. Check the CPU, you will see the difference inmediately if you do OC on it.

I know that the water rendering should be done by GPU, but in this game, high water values stress CPU. I have made my own tests with CPU and water values. Changing graphic settings don't change the FPS figure. But, with OC, you get a boost there. Maybe in year 2000 GPU,s weren't so powerful and Oleg set up the water rendering (not the textures) through the CPU,s.

With water and an NVIDIA card, the GPU might indeed be the problem. I experienced exactly the same issue while running antialiasing at 16xQ. Try your game with antialiasing set to 8. My game still looks great, and the "water lag" immediately and completely disappeared!

I have the exact same problem since i tried to play around nvidia control panel settings. I uninstalled and reinstalled forcewares without success. The AA @ 8 trick is not working for me. Here is my conf.ini file:
